Don't care about the books, but the movies were fun.

I remember seeing the one where he kisses that girl then it cuts to Ron asking "what was it like?" Then he says "it was wet. Me and some teenage girls burst out laughing.

I liked the story up to the third one (the second being my favourite). Then everything starts feeling boring from there on for some reason. Red until the begging of the 5th and couldn't go on any longer, I got Eragon by that time and it was way more interesting to me. Watched all the movies tho just to know how it all ends, and wasn't disappointed but could be better.

Loved the books and the movies. Movies would've been better if duration of movie was increased, but oh well. Not everyone wants to see a five hour movie.

Plus I assume it'd cost the studios too much to produce? (That or every film could have been broken into two parts.)

It really started with the 3rd book/movie. The movie left out the entire backstory of the Maurader's map. That always disappointed me since that backstory is pretty important to James Potter and his friends.

Right. That movie left out so much of the book's plot, it wasn't funny. But at least they spent so much time on some establishing shots? Yay?

YA novels tend to go for bland protagonists because it makes it easier for the reader to think of themselves as the main character.

Never seen it. Although with age, I've been more inclined to accept that I would see it.

The first book came out when I was twelve, and none of us had heard of it at the time... We were all busy playing N64. In 2001, I was "too old" to see it, and many of us didn't.

Not me. I skimmed the books and thought they were bland, and the movies never appealed to me at all.

That's at least partly because I was already of legal drinking age by the time the first book came out, and was more or less out of the target audience.

It also doesn't help that I'd been reading much better written fantasy novels for more than two decades by that point, so I was never as impressed as the sort of people don't really read for fun all that much.

Meh, I snubbed my nose at the franchise when it was first coming out but started to like it by the end. And, while I had read much better, I had also read far, far, far worse (such as those cash-in D&D novels that often didn't even seem to have been proofread)
