Yeah, I got rejected for a role once because they were looking for a female team leader for team chemistry or something like that.

It's the only time I've ever been discriminated against because I'm 27 years old, white, male, straight, upper-middle class, atheist, so you pretty much can't discriminate against me.

Felt bad man

No. I slay interviews because I've mastered my 'non-threatening white guy' customer service voice and I know how to get potential employers to talk about themselves.

Yes. I've always had really bad rosacea (primarily on my cheeks), and I know that a lot of people think it's a result of not washing your face (it's not). Like, interviewers would visibly grimace when they saw my face.

I actually resorted to learning how to apply concealer, and guess what? It worked. I have great facial features and have been told numerous times how handsome I am as long as my cheeks aren't bright red. It sucks because I have stupidly sensitive skin and makeup really irritates it. I've scoured skincare guides and they always recommend these top shelf products that are like $50 a vial. That's not even getting into the weird treatment you get for being a guy "wearing makeup"... Luckily, most other guys can't tell, but women can spot it a mile away.

tl;dr: felt discriminated against because of a skin condition

I feel like I was based on my age once.

I was lucky enough (I guess) to get hired as an office assistant to my father in high school and I worked there for three years, so I was pretty much qualified for any entry level office gig.

I showed up to an interview, freshly shaved so looking like I'm 14 (I was 18). There was a large group of people also waiting. Literally all of them were in their 30s or older. I waited my turn, the lady conducting the interview came out, callsd my name, and when I stood up she gave me this completely startled look.

As I walked through the office I noticed that literally everyone working also looked to be in their 30s or older. The interviewer seemed very uninterested and didn't even really ask me many questions before saying they'd consider me and to please exit through the back of the office.

I'm a Korean adopted into a "white" US family. There have been a few times where I've had the start of a job interview process over the phone, then once I walked into the actual interview, I received startled looks and comment blurts like "Oh...you're Asian, you had no accent over the phone."

Then the interview felt short and awkward and of course I wasn't hired. Whether that was because I was Asian or because they thought I was unqualified, however, I couldn't say for certain.

Discrimination, or at least strange situations, based on the fact my looks don't "match" my upbringing/attitude (middle-class "white") happen all the time. Sometimes it's reversed, where other Asians make assumptions or treat me disdainfully, too. Most of the time it's nothing intended as malicious tho. I'm one of those with no sense of strong "culture/racial" background/idenity I guess. You get used to it.

Yeah. I was placed lower on their rank list for a residency position for physician training because I went to a DO school instead of a US MD School

As a male teacher who applied for a lot of jobs at elementary schools I bet a few of those applications were ignored cause I am a male and some people still think working with small kids is a job for women.

I was definitely on a black list in 2015/early 2016 because NO ONE except for Target wanted to hire me. I can take a guess as to who made that happen.

I was passed up for a promotion into a new group because they were forced to recruit a female. They apologized to me about it and I was eventually brought on.
