Like literally the graphics revolve around the 3d aspect.

the game is really ugly, and pretty backgrounds and proper color palettes is essential to a metroidvania, dont want to be bored while exploring.

Should have just played AMR2, but now I want Monster hunter generations instead.

Just watched a review, it doesn't look too bad imo, especially since it's a handheld console.

Yeah I think 2.5d on the 3ds looks like dog shit too. I'd just go for AM2R. Game looks beautiful. I wish more game designers would opt for sprites again.

Game looks pretty good for a 3DS game, honestly. But I would still have preferred sprites like Fusion or Zero Mission.

I think Walmart let's you return games, going to check. Sprites are so much more appealing to the eye

I liked Samus Returns. I 100%'d it as well and was very satisfied in the end.
My only gripe is that the combat gets kinda old quick with the melee counter thingy. It's fine on bosses but not on regular enemies.

I even tried out the original Metroid 2 afterwards and surprisingly I liked that game as well.
I think I can even say that I like Metroid 2 more than the original Metroid.

The original Metroid 2 is... not for everyone however. If you do decide to play it, Bring a Map.

Love that game it was great.

Played fusion and zero mission. Need to play Samus returns but dunno how much I like this aesthetic choice. Might just keep the game not play it to support Nintendo and more 2d Metroid games but then again I don't want to encourage this sort of art direction. Definitely going to need

It's the worst post-Super Metroid game in the series, but I have to say as far as exploration goes, it's a lot of fun. It's plenty flawed, but I'd still probably give it a 7 or 7.5/10.

I generally don't find that bad graphics bother me past the first hour or so of gameplay. It can be a bit jarring if I'm expecting something better, but that passes pretty quickly.

Yeah I know but with Metroid 2 I just didn't bother. I just wanted to be done with it and move on to other games.
Even though I ended up liking the game after all.
Oh well, if I ever play it again I won't use a map and I will probably not remember anything because my memory is kinda shitty.

you're supposed to make your own map

Well, you can't.
The game doesn't lay out "flat" - there's unexpected gaps and overlaps all over the place.
