Well I have Russia first and Saudi Arabia last in that group, so good start.

I went with Argentina to go all the way, over Spain in the final. I guess it's more likely a European team will win it, but it'd be cool to see Messi win in his last World Cup.

I'm not really sure how much a lot of you have paid attention to international soccer in the last couple years, but Russia is not good. Today's match was between the two lowest rated teams in the entire tournament.

Uruguay easily wins this group, and if Mo Salah is healthy, Egypt should be able to get out of it as well.

Yeah but the hosts always have a lower FIFA rating than usual because they haven't had to play any meaningful matches for 2 years. I'm confident Russia and Uruguay get through, though Uruguay might win the group.

I'm also banking a bit on Russia playing above expectations due to home field advantage. I know Brazil got their shit kicked in by Germany in 2014, and South Africa didn't get out of their group in 2010, but even then they played better than usual at times (as is usually the case with the host nation).
