We're getting a WoW classic while Runescape is shutting down.
I do find this kind of sad tbh. I played Runescape a bit when I was like 12 because I couldn't buy that many games at that age, plus I found it a neat social experience at the time.

One of the oldest and most accessible active MMOs. I am not a fan of the genre, but it is a bit of a shame to see one of the old ones go.

It's just RSC closing down. Both modern Runescape and Old School Runescape (adapted 2007 version) are still remaining fully operational and will for a very long time.

I didn't have much connection with RSC since I joined in 2004, which was after RS2 came out. The only time I really played RSC was late 2012 after Runescape revamped (ruined) their combat system and microtransactions went rampant.
