Well, she was asking pretty stupid questions in general. They kinda want into it with a narrative in mind. But yeah, that guy wasn't giving her much to work with. His answers -- like repeatedly saying something along the lines of "I have to do what's best for me" -- were just confusing. And, honestly, it wouldn't take him much to spin this damn thing. He could have talked about going through a rough patch where he just lost his kid, he was struggling to find work, and at this time of greatest need his parents were trying to evict him.
