There's a difference between doing your job and standing for a flag during a time you aren't playing the game. There's no reason anyone should be "required" to stand for it. Ever.

One might argue that they are performing within the scope of their employment any time they are within the confines of the stadium. This would be a convenient position for the players as they still expect to get paid even when they are injured.

Noteworthy here that the rule allows players, even whole teams to stay in the locker rooms during the anthem.

I'm sure that the people the NFL is trying to appease here won't find that just as infuriating and call for the league to bar that too.

So we've established it's not a freedom of speech thing, nor is it illegal, but what is everyone's perspective on such a move from the standpoint of a good working environment?

Are you all okay with the amassed NFL owners making this edict without the cooperation of members of their workforce? Do you see this as a good example for other businesses? Would you be okay reading a contract of employment for a place you want to work and seeing a requirement of "must stand for the National Anthem at 8AM every morning"? Is this about morality, ethics, tradition, respect, or control?

A more appropriate analogy would be "at 8 AM the national anthem will be played in the break room. Attendance is optional, but if you do attend you are required to stand."

But I'm not wrong. It's going to take a while before the Kaepernick effect is undone.

The old fans won't come back right away.

It's going to take many years before they come back to watch.

How can you deny kaep hurt the ratings. There are establishments that wont play games any more and tons of conservative people who say they wont any more. Ive heard them. Might not be the only reason, but it is ridiculous to say no one stopped watching.

Not really, every sports event that is televised does it for their respective country.

It's tradition and it's fine the way it is.

But to you, being Nationalistic is a "Political" / Bad thing which is a load of crap.

There is nothing wrong with being Nationalistic, regardless of what country you hail from.

Every citizen of their respective country should be Nationalistic about their country.

Fair, next.

The military's propanganda department pays NFL big money to stage patriotic shows where players worship the flag while the national anthem plays. If NFL allowed players to kneel or otherwise be unpatriotic during this show, they would be failing to deliver what the propagandists paid them for.

The military also tries to recruit at movie theaters with advertisements, schools with job fairs, etc.

The NFL / Sports centers aren't unique in accepting that.

If you want to recruit for your organization, you need to get out there and make yourself visible.

The Military along with many other companies advertise.

Guess what, it's natural competition for trying to get talent to work for you.

This is a fair compromise. Players don't have to come out to the anthem and can stay in the locker-room if they object.

If they're out on the field, they can stand for the anthem.

It's 2018. It's not like these players have no other means of having their voices heard. They can post under social media and sponsor campaigns or donate to other causes they're passionate about.

They should be able to wear like a sticker or something, though. Something like that is fair. League won't allow that to happen unfortunately.

Probably about a dozen. Most of the minority involvement is to help the poor and give kids a focus to work towards in the future.

It's not there to push a certain "Political Agenda" the way SJW's / BLM does it.

It's kneeling. Before Kaepernick did it, no one gave a shit about the idea of "kneeling" .... so when the next form of protest happens, the NFL will have to simply keep changing their policy.

"No wearing this during the anthem."
"No looking away from the flag."
"No listening to music by Biggie when the Anthem is playing."
"No listening to ANYTHING when the Anthem is playing."
"No wearing pinky rings that say "Black Lives Matter" on them."
"No crossing your fingers during the anthem!"

Like, I can guarantee more forms of protest will occur.
