Poll of the Day > So, I'm thinking about becoming a firefighter

I always had a high interest in it and I never went into college for anything. So I looked into it around here and as it turns out, there's an academy at the local community college I can get into. The program really isn't all that much at just $2,500. Well, technical around 3 grand if you the count books, and the bunker gear you have to rent. I have 2 grand saved up for around that amount and well, obviously there is also finance aid to help in the long run. And doing it part time evenings for 17 weeks seems like it will be well worth it!

So anyways, that is pretty much the gist of it really and I just need some honest oppions or advice/tips for pursing a firefighter career.

If you have high interest in it AND its looking like an affordable thing to do, definitely do it

Lifes all about trying stuff and learning. Really dont expect you not to do it lol but interested on what its like

I was a firefighter back in 90 until about 95. Once I hit 290lbs they "released" me.

My honest opinion is don't gain weight or else you'll get fired! No pun intended.
