This doesn't mean that schools are more dangerous that active duty military service as more than 50 million students attend public schools compared to 1.3 million people in the military. A military memeber however is 40 times as likely to be killed as a public student is to be shot to death It's unusual though that school shooting deaths surpass military deaths in the us...for example, in 2017 more than 6 times as many American service members died th an victims of school shootings did. 2018 however is shaping up to be a deadly year for schools when comparing data from previous years as more people were killed in school shootings in 2018 than in any other year since 2000. There's a lot of money, technology, and military might, but also tons of poverty/crumbling infrastructure, entitlement, and stupid decisions. Nowhere is perfect, but it'd take an awful lot of wealth for me to entertain living there. I honestly feel sorry for my friends there in some ways. I've been to about a dozen states and I've met lots of nice people. Unless you are going send police (armed with guns) to come confiscate the guns, they will still be available. Also, you can bet your ass that homemade guns would become a huge black market if somehow guns were ever banned.
