But will it have campaign co-op like BO3? If not might as well just not have one because it's not like it'll be worth wasting 6 hours on lol.

Aside from framing the multiplayer setting Black Ops 1-2 are arguably the best campaigns in the series

Co-op campaign was a mess, always has been lol. People skip the cutscenes, plow through enemies only to get downed, and kill whore for points when you're trying to beat the level lol. Keep it in Zombies

The campaign themselves are a mess and have been for idk how many games now. In a garbage campaign like BO3 had of course I'm just going to blow through skipping the cutscenes, the story was garbage. Being able to play, chat, and laugh with friends is the only redeeming thing they could have. Who the fuck would play with randoms so you're dealing with idiots? Shit who even plays CoD period without friends, that's boring as fuck not being in a party chatting, that's like 50% of the fun.
There hasn't been a decent campaign since MW3 or a really good one since BO1.

If it came down to dropping the campaign or dropping co-op I'd rather just have the no story special ops missions from MW3 because they're clearly never going to make a more than mediocre campaign again.

Yeha but that isn't now, now activision couldn't pull out a decent story or writing if their life depended on it. So might as well just go with what works, MP.

Does anyone even actually know what the fuck is actually going on in the WaW-Black Ops 3 plot anymore anyways? I played the campaign in 3 and can't tell you jack shit about it other than it was terrible.

I'd anyone even keeping track enough to care if it's a continuation or not?

Black Ops 3 was standalone and it was terrible, yes

But WAW- Black Ops 2 is fantastic

I'd even argue Black Ops 2 was a dropping off point tbh. Got more convoluted and boring compared to WaW and BO1 or even MW1-3 imo.

Not sure why anyone would want a direct sequel to any of them are this point though because all 3 companies are making bad campaigns now.

Yeah I wouldn't get my hopes up yet.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-04-18-sources-call-of-duty-black-ops-4-doesnt-have-a-single-player-campaign
Overnight, Polygon reported Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 does not have a single-player campaign. Eurogamer sources have corroborated this story.

Polygon sources said as Black Ops 4's release date approached, "it became evident that development on the single-player campaign wouldn't be completed". Since then, according to Polygon's sources, developer Treyarch has focused on expanding multiplayer and the Zombies mode. There is also an emphasis on cooperative modes as a potential stand-in for the typical single-player campaign experience.

This tallies with information Eurogamer received about the development of Black Ops 4 back in February. Then, our sources indicated Treyarch scrapped the game's campaign in the early part of 2018 to focus on multiplayer.

One source close to the project told us Black Ops 4's campaign was originally called a "career" and featured co-op missions with another player. Video game development is a tricky business, of course, and plans often change, so it's unclear whether these co-op style missions have made the cut as the potential stand-in for the ditched single-player.

Last night, Call of Duty specialist website charlieINTEL, which has reliably leaked information on the series in the past, reported Black Ops 4 has a Battle Royale mode developed by fellow Activision-owned studio Raven Software. Kotaku then backed this up, as well as the Polygon report about a lack of single-player.

https://www.kotaku.com.au/2018/04/sources-next-call-of-duty-wont-have-a-solo-campaign-may-have-battle-royale/
This fall's Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be multiplayer-only, lacking the kind of single-player campaign that has been a key component of the annual series for over a decade, two sources familiar with the game tell Kotaku, corroborating a report published earlier today at Polygon.

One of those sources also echoed a report from top Call of Duty information-broker Charlie Intel saying that the new game will have a battle royale mode.

charlieINTEL is the guy who lied right? Seems like he isn't the source the journalists are using. Either he piggybacked on the existing rumors or the stuff he added to them was bullshit.

Black Ops 2 had a thought out CYOA system with virtually no plotholes that can be accidentally created, Strike Force which was a fun distraction, and tied in the previous story with the present. What's not to like?

Those articles are weeks old, new discoveries have came in since then.

charlieINTEL was the first to report in on it, but just about all of them have used the same source as a Treyarch "insider" Matt Harris (some no-name Youtuber/Twitter gamer) was the first one to break the rumors, and he has since confirmed that he was bullshitting:

If it's not Zombies or Spec Ops it's trash. Part of the reason Black Ops 3's campaign sucked was because it needed to have setpieces and large areas of nothing that could accommodate 4 players.

Kotaku and Eutogamer didn't name their sources though. They wouldn't if they have a legit leaker talking to them.

I mean there could be some troll who managed to fool a few gaming outlets seperately but I think that's unprecedented.
