I'm actually disappointed we haven't seen any of the characters stronger than Thanos, but I understand why they're doing it this way. They tried to put Galactus on the big screen and it was just a total disaster.

Dormammu is stronger than Thanos (when he doesn't have the Infinity Gauntlet in its entirety). Technically, no one except the One Above All can overcome the Infinity Gauntlet in any situation. Thanos himself, however, would definitely come in under Dormammu and probably Hela/Surtur. Galactus would be another, as you mentioned. Mephisto is a difficult character to quantify but generally speaking in stories like Earth X, he's regarded as a bigger threat than Thanos even on the raw power side of things. Of course, Dr. Strange could have introduced Eternity at some point but sadly that hasn't happened. And we've never seen Quasar or Adam Warlock, both of whom also float around on Thanos levels.

Buddy, I don't know how to even reason with this. It's a fantastic, fondly-regarded ending to a story that is considered one of Marvel's all-time greats. It fits the character perfectly and it encapsulates Thanos' greatest weaknesses and also his relationship with Nebula. In fact, it would play perfectly in the movies - they have built it over the course of the Guardians' films. I know you're not a comic guy, but if you haven't read it, you can't comment.

Beating literal BIG G "God" who is omnipresent and omniscient because he "ignored" someone is the stupidest ending ever.... I didn't say the story itself wasn't fine. The ending is so so so god damn fucking abysmal.

That's the point. Thanos has unbridled levels of arrogance. The story is a classic one; he is toppled by an insect, someone who he has kicked around, tortured, betrayed, treated like utter shit. The moment comes when, had he been a decent person at any point, Nebula could have allowed Thanos to win, but Thanos' own disgusting treatment of Nebula is coupled with his inability to foresee someone so inconsequential defeating him. Think of the Gauntlet as a title and think of Nebula as cashing in Money in the Bank when Thanos isn't paying attention. You aren't seeing the underlying story at play there. It's utterly Shakespearean.

It's even dumber that it's Nebula....

If it was LITERALLY some random, sure, maybe.

The guy is fucking omniscient and Omnipreseent and I'm supposed to believe he could even subconsciously ignore people like Nubula, Gamora, his order, anyone that ever had any effect on his life?

Arrogance be damned, they would be on your mind constantly as you see everything.

You really don't get that he legitimately doesn't have any regard for Nebula and Gamora. He in fact does subconsciously ignore them. In the comics, he only has one desire, one ambition. Everything else is completely and utterly trivial to him. The point is that omniscience in his hands doesn't mean anything because he reminds blinded by his own arrogance and his ambition. And, lest we forget, he is growing into his understanding of the powers he commands. He still has yet to tap the full measure of the Gems before Nebula geeks him. I know you live in DBZ world where there can be no subtlety or nuance, but that's what you are getting here. If you follow it up with Infinity War, you'd understand that the journey of Thanos requires this poignant and pivotal moment. It's a catalyst for understanding and change. Thanos cannot be all-powerful because he thinks so small. The man snapped his fingers and killed half the Marvel Universe.

Now think about that for a moment. Let it set in.

He doesn't think big enough.

Ulti, you should check out Infinity Gauntlet which is closer to the material they are basing this Thanos arc on; you shouldn't go off of the comics you're using.

I suspect Nebula will play a crucial role as she did in the comics

I REALLY hope they don't end it that way.

It's the dumbest ending to anything in all of fiction.

Are you going to pretend that if someone took away your infinite power and made you just a strong Semi mortal again that's not being beaten?

There's a difference between a fight to the death "beaten" and just being gamed because you arrogantly assume that you have nothing to worry about from some puny mortal. "What can she possibly do?" Well, she can walk right up to you if you aren't going to take her seriously.

I mean.... there's a lot of philosophical shit there I'm not sure we need to be getting in in a series that has Iron man as its lead.

I don't know how to answer that, and realistically, you would get a BUNCH of different answers to that from different people.

No... opposite.

I think it dumbs down both Thanos as a threat, as well as exactly what god like power entails to have him lose like that.

It literally does the opposite. Dumbing it down would be saying that there can be absolutely no nuance to how his powers work, meaning his own personality has no bearing on his abilities. You are Mary Sueing Thanos right now

Thanos has GOD powers but he'll never realize them to the full potential because he doesn't have enough imagination to actually do that.

Also as I recall it was slightly more complicated than that. Thanos had killed Eternity, and was in the process of some weird "Okay I am floating off to become Eternity now. Who needs the Gauntlet, I am literally the embodiment of everything" change

So he drops the Gauntlet, Nebula crawls her mostly dead carcass over and grabs it

It would be more apt to say he had accomplished what he wanted, and was going to try to ascend beyond, but in doing that left his body, but all his powers still CAME from his body having the Gauntlet and then Nebula and her zombi ass goes and grabs it, removing his GOD.
