Preferably superhero stuff, because I'm a fucking nerd, but it doesn't have to be that. I'm reading the Amory Wars stuff right now and I like it. Iron Man is my favorite superhero.

If you're not afraid of reading a young adult series, I personally thought that Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson was an interesting take on the concept of superheros.

The premise is basically "a world where, in the recent past, an event happened that caused people to start getting super powers, except pretty much everyone with powers is evil."

Edit: I may have misunderstood this to be asking about written novels rather than graphic novels.

I stand by my suggestion anyway.

If you can find them for a reasonable price, the Annihilation arc from Marvel (3 TPBs) is my favourite of all time. It's pretty self-contained and a very enjoyable journey. Nothing short of it or the Thunderbolts being a thing in the MCU would get me to care about it again, honestly.

The basic setup is that Annihilus has a seemingly infinite army and is trying to kill everything else in the universe. Nova, Drax, Ronan the Accuser, Silver Surfer, Super Skrull, and others struggle to stop him. It reinvigorated my long-dead interest in comics.

I have Watchmen and TDKR, but I haven't finished either. Watchmen was good, I don't remember why I stopped. The other two sound good.

Preacher and Transmetropolitan are some of my favorites, but Preacher is 6 volumes (used to be 9 but they slimmed it down in later editions) and Transmetropolitan is 10, so they can be a bit long to read. Both have Absolute editions that are 3 volumes each, but pretty expensive (and bulky)

As far as one edition stuff, The Man Without Fear (Daredevil's origin story) is pretty good. Bloody Mary is also decent if you like the idea of female Punisher.

Wanted - Completely butchered by the movie, it's about a kid recruited by a secret society of supervillains (in a world where supervillains teamed up, defeated the heroes, and then messed with reality so people forgot) following the mysterious death of his father. It's loaded with DC comics expys, with the protagonist basically being Deadshot's son. (Whereas the movie gave everybody the same bullet-bending power and had an almost completely different story.)

Marvel 1602 (as in the year 1602) is cool, but somewhat convoluted.

The Redwall comic was decent, but it feels too damn short.
