for comparison in other successful first years the Wii sold 13.7 million while the PS4 sold 13.5 million. Of course, this also means just one year in and the Switch has totally eclipsed the lifetime sales for the Wii U.

Total Software is at 68.87 million copies worldwide. Here's how the first party software is doing. Fire Emblem Warriors isn't listed but Koei says it's "over 1 million"

And if you count Wii TP and GC TP as being basically the same game and as a multiplatform release rather than a "rerelease" per se, TP also outsold OoT vanilla by a bit. I think they started selling TP Wii for $20.00 new as a bargain game sometime during the early Wii U era or so? That probably gave it a pretty long tail.

Kinda surprised more dont have Zelda and Mario since theyre like THE reason to even buy Nintendo for most people. Whenever Pokmon hits will probably cause the biggest explosion for Switch sales

Its such a weird feeling that todays kid's will grow up comparing all future zelda titles to BotW lamenting the different ways Zelda has "lost the magic" over the next 20 years

WiiU was probably already a dead console by then. TPs my favorite, but I never bought a WiiU. If it got a Switch port Id buy it

Incidentally, Star Allies is also Kirby's biggest debut ever.

Eh, I don't really agree with this. I think it'd be offset by the fact that... If Madden wasn't a popular series, people wouldn't buy it literally every year. You gotta factor in fatigue, too. Yeah, Kirby might release more games than Metroid, but they remain popular despite being more oversaturated.

EDIT: Also, Madden is probably a really poor example to use since in one year Madden typically sells like double to triple what Metroid sells in its first year.

Metroid is awesome and Nintendo has somehow managed to screw it up. Hard to keep a series relevant when it gets minimal attention and goes for years and years between releases.

Switch is awesome though, it's the reason I can still play console games with 2 kids. Love the portability.

I think it's sadder that 1-2 Switch sold over 2 million copies, you'd think the bad word of mouth would have killed that game, but apparently there's still some of that motion control market left.

Also surprised how well Amiibo are still selling with the toys to life market dead, some stores are even getting rid of their Amiibo section or toys to life section completely. I guess making so few now ensures they get their shipments sold quick.

That it sold even 1 copy as a full priced standalone game is sad. That's a bundle-in game if i ever saw one. Wii Sports would have been infinitely more worthy as a full-priced retail game.
