Personally I'd argue that visuals are, like....65-70% of my rating for an OP/ED. Often I'll like a song because of the visuals I associate with it. I almost never care about any of the songs in a single other than the main one from the show, for example.

Thus why P5A's OP is such shit, and SG;0's is a big drop from S;G's.

Been watching March Comes in Like a Lion. Mostly liking it, but why are all the shogi players such shitty characters? I hate almost every one of them, other than Rei and his dad. Just finished ep 9 with the old guy, which again, sucked because he's a terrible character. Ugh.

Yeah I just rewatched to confirm, this song is awful. There are about 12 seconds that sound really good maybe 15ish seconds in, but wow the last half is just....an absolute tragedy. Like the band was literally slipping in butter while trying to play.

And the visuals are indeed just a bunch of people standing around with a few seconds of people...launching their attacks? Basically the worst kind of bottom of the barrel OP visuals you'd see for a shounen.

Also I feel like this is one of those cases where it's only full of spoilers if you know them already in context, and it wouldn't be spoiling anybody if everyone wasn't already telling them it was full of spoilers. But with no context myself maybe I'm wrong.

I actually finished S2 and forgot to post about it. I thought it was about the same quality as S1 overall. not as much time spent actually playing shogi but still too much focus on the shogi storylines and characters. great otherwise.

(Whatever the match between the two old guys was with the whole "burnt field" metaphor. Despite being two side characters I previously couldn't have cared less about, that might honestly be my favorite part of the series)

I never enjoyed the shogi all too much, but S2 felt significantly less overloaded with it. I could be misremembering the amount in S1 though.

I dunno I feel like if you're interested enough in something to check it out you should give it like 2 or 3 episodes to see if it develops. 4 is a decent sweet spot too.

I think there's a difference between giving something a chance because you know the source material or the studio vs some random LN adaption or ONA by a complete unknown studio

The 3 episode rule in the first place was just a Madoka established standard. I think it's asking too much to say every show should get that. If a show does actually improve or change significantly you'll probably hear about it.

Why continue watching something you don't like rather than switching over to something you do like?

Also zea has this thing where even if something gets better later on he won't like it anyway if he didn't like the earlier parts, so continuing a series where he didn't like the start would be pointless for him.

I don't remember much of the first Suisei episode but I do remember there being a huge lull during the middle all the way up to "that" moment.

Aldnoah had promise! It just felt like Code Geass towards the end with the long shots.

I don't know if we ever got confirmation of Urobochi left Aldnoah after the introductory episodes due to creative differences or if he always planned to leave.
