Everyone that lives in the countryside will have better internet than the peasants that live in the overcrowded and aging cities.

Nothing for a while. A smart move is to wait until people are unaware before screwing them over.

How long will it take for the Internet as we know it to change?

It's changed quite a lot since 2010, so probably around 4-8 years. Remember "surfing the web" before like 5 companies owned 99% of the Internet services?

I meant for them to start charging extra for sites.

He hasn't seen all the cables being easily replaced in the countryside as city peasants are stuck with the same jumbled mess of cables and pluming.

I think that was more of a scare tactic to make people oppose it. Could be wrong, but I am not a fan of so few companies being in control of all the traffic, which definitely has happened the last few years.

Some countries already do that, why it spread as a scare tactic. Granted I think the US will get a more slight-of-hand approach than heavy handed "pay for these, or don't get them."

We'll probably see the performance of the sites slowly decline over time as competitors increase in performance while they try to steer us towards partnered sites.

It wasn't a scare tactic to point out what would actually be legal

Yeah, but it's the only talking point/effect that anyone ever mentioned.

"They can charge you more for certain sites!"

That's the one and only change/effect/difference that repealing it would possibly make?

Edit: To add to that, NN is one of the only things I don't have much of an opinion on, because I don't know much outside of seeing those talking points. Trying any discussion on Reddit was impossible because of the voting shit, so I never got to actually discuss it.

How about the fact that Netflix was charged a ransom to stop being throttled? Netflix is deeply in debt right now.

That sounds a little dramatic.

That sounds a little dramatic.

How would you phrase Comcast charging Netflix to remove a throttle on Netflix's data?
