I'm not convinced that we don't already have many parties. The Democrat Party and the Republican Party are effectively coalitions of smaller parties, just with greater unity than that of those others in a Parliamentary system. I don't think that having a third or fourth party would accomplish much beyond forcing one of the two parties to move further left or right (depending on what will get them more votes) on specific issues that are popular with the third party.

I do agree that the electoral system could (or should) change, but I don't think "two viable parties" is an issue when there are 'mini-parties' within the two parties.

I'm tired of seeing people say there should be term limits for congress. It's a ridiculous statement that if you spend any time researching you'll find out exactly why we don't have them. And yet the thought persists. As if it's some magical fix for problems and it's so simple.

Cuomo used his leverage with unions to get them to denounce the Working Families Party, which in NY's fusion ballot system, tends to nominate progressives and try to bring the Dems to the left. (They have since endorsed Nixon) He reportedly threatened to defund community groups unless they too cut ties with the WFP. Asked whether he would not punish groups that stuck with the WFP, this was his reply.
