Same guys who worked on Killer Instinct's second and third Seasons, as well as Divekick and other indie projects. I checked out their dev list on Steam out of random curiosity and lo and behold, a game that comes out in less than two days.

Looks cool, but I'm extremely leery of any game advertised as "open world" that doesn't have a huge budget. Usually that means vast expanses of procedurally generated blandness.

And with that...pow! I'm gone!

Yeah, I'm not expecting too much beyond a very pretty tech demo with good combat.

They talk a bit about the features here:

So basically, Ogres are walking Fallout towers lol

But damn, does the action look good.

The PS4 version is apparently under 3 GB, so.... Yeah lol

you say that like most open world games worlds aren't just mostly randomly generated

if you think everything is crafted by hand, then jeez

These days they pretty much have to be.

But I swear that most of Oblivion felt handcrafted.

the general layout of oblivion was the same, but the terrain, tree placement, ect was all random.

There's a big difference between games that start by generating a map and then tweak it and games that just let the algorithm loose and call it a day. The amount and quality of hand crafted stuff tends to make or break an open world game and any small scale developer trying to make a huge world is all but guaranteed to skimp on it.

okay that's fine but you sort of missed the point

that's just the random stuff done in game, i'm talking about that the devs probably created the map itself first by randomly generating it, and then went in and tweaked it

While Oblivion had some procedural tools used in its development, it's worth noting that they scrapped them in Skyrim for significantly more hand building. Almost everyone kissed by the succubus of procedural content learns this the hard way sooner or later: It's often easier to hand build something than it is to mold random data into what you want.

Yeah, I'm hearing it's short and tedious.

A shame, because it looks like it could've been something really cool.

I honestly don't get the AoT comparisons I'm seeing.

Giant enemies aren't exactly a new thing.

Hell, if anything, I'd compare it more to Dragon's Dogma.
