Taught high school English for 3 years and the first year was great because I had an awesome staff... However, the last 2 years I was treated like complete and total garbage and I just got so sick of it that I finally decided to give it up and work at a warehouse. I make about $15 an hour now, which is about a 700 dollar cut per paycheck, but I don't have anywhere near the stress I had back then.

But part of me still misses the money and time off... only question is, will I have a job the following year? Kinda torn...

What changed in the last 2 years? I can't imagine things taking a nosedive that suddenly unless you're referring to students.

Unless the pay was really good, I'd say you're better off sticking with less troublesome jobs, if you're happier that way.

Different staff, different schools. At my first school, it was like a family. At the last two schools, other teachers were always looking for ways to get me into trouble over STUPID shit. Stuff like pulling up my lesson plans and test scores and going to the principal and trying to make it sound like I wasn't doing my job. Got on my damn nerves. The assistant principal at the 2nd school was the same way, pain in the ass.

Just got tired of the politics. Would love to go to another good school though, but they are hard to find.

Getting into teaching for the money / time off is a dumb idea. The job is stressful and it can be super hard depending on the class you get. If money or time off are your motivations then youll probably burn out

Whoever thought of the idea of having an ignore list is a genius.

But yeah, I hear what you are saying but its the only way I can make decent money. Was thinking of just trying English again, then getting certified in something that doesn't require state testing like PE or something. That way, I can make good money with no stress.
