Can someone please explain to me this shit because no matter how much time I hear this I still can't fucking understand it
Why is "standing" next to people making them nervous? how does it matter to someone if you are sitting next to them (and suddenly it's fine) or if you are standing next to them?
I am willing to admit being socially awkward in this regard because I honestly can't understand why something like this bother people

Are they sitting too?

Cause if so I can tell you why for a lot of people.

In standing you are higher than them, you are literally above them in that moment. Subconsciously it's gives you an air of authority.

Yes, when people are sitting
Still, why do they listen to their subconscious? I would feel like an idiot by feeling uncomfortable by something that shouldn't make me uncomfortable
Because standing doesn't give any "air of authority" in reality

you don't get to dictate what makes others feel uncomfortable. imagine that instead you're hanging out with someone, and they're making a face like you smell awful.

You're kidding, right? It's SUB conscious.... It's something you have no control over or even know that's what's causing the things. It isn't a conscious decision. They don't know why they are nervous, just they are.

Wait Nanis are you serious?

You think everybody feels the same level of comfort about everything?

And yet when my subconscious tells me something stupid I prefer to keep it to myself because I know it doesn't make sense
Yes they can't control it, but they can avoid saying this thing because they need to realize it's stupid

Of course not
But I want to assume that if people find something uncomfortable, it's because there is a logical reason for it (i.e being in a high place, due to a fear of height (not phobia))

Your first mistake was assuming feelings were logical to begin with.

What's illogical about being nervous being around a fucking weirdo who is threatening you with body language?

This reminds me of a recent incident at my mom's workplace.

There was a loud argument. At one point, books were thrown (at the floor, it turned out, not at each other). People outside heard the noise, got concerned, and called security.

So a security officer rushed in. It turned out, things were okay; there was no actual violence and the arguers made up. But one of the workers (not involved in the argument) was very upset at the security officer's presence, and kept demanding that he sit down to talk with her, otherwise he was taking a position of authority over her. In that case, the officer couldn't sit down -- they're not allowed to sit while they're on the job responding to a situation -- but the worker couldn't/wouldn't understand that, and basically threw a fit.

Pretty sure it moreso has to deal with the fact that it seems you are ready to leave at any moment. Like, you won't sit and get comfortable because you know something is about to happen or you are about to leave at a moment's notice. Thus, you are standing instead of relaxing.

You are sending signals that you are not relaxed and that makes people uncomfortable.

Also, a person who is sitting is less threatening.
