Gamefaqs has been borderline unusable on mobile recently. Just to day I had a"Congratulations, you won a giftcard from Walmart" bullshit appear. 8 times. Within 20 minutes.

Adblockers are pretty much mandatory for the internet in general, as sad as it is. People need to operate on a whitelist model, not a blacklist.

Yeah, I don't need to because GameFlux works around the ads.

All this said, 85% of my Internet browsing is done on a PC so I haven't looked into dedicated ad-blockers in like two years now. Yikes, time flies...

There's a very noticeable red "Report Ad" link in the site footer (shows up on every page). If you get a malicious ad, please click it. It will send us every bit of info possible about the ads that are on the page when you clicked, which can help us get rid of the ad very quickly.

I don't understand why ads aren't pre-screened before appearing on the website?

Ads typically are. The problem is that because ads run on an auction model with a lot of new ads/advertisers coming in, it gets harder to stop people who are really dedicated conserving a bad ad.

As an example, one of the common practices is to screen an ad by running it in a sandbox environment before it even reaches the page. But people running bad ads have gotten wise to this and will send info for a more innocuous ad to get past the sandbox sandbox, then send the bad ad once they get through.

there is definitely one that redirects me away without me actually clicking on anything, or maybe trigger when i click on a normal topic link

pretty much impossible to hit 'back' the correct number of times to get back to where i want to be, as they have their 5 link auto-forward /popup/whatever system going, have to just kill the window

I did, in this case.

Out of curiosity, how are you capturing this data? In the case of a mobile redirect, if the user navigates back to the page, the ad that's redirecting will likely have already refreshed, so I don't know if you'd be able to get any useful info on this.

I can share the landing page, although that might have limited usefulness if the advertiser/buyer is chaining redirects or spoofing the landing page in some way.

I get the URL of the ad out of my browser history. I like to close the window because typically these pages are doing dumb things to my browser or phone(Like forced vibration).

'There's a very noticeable red 'Report Ad' link no one has noticed at the footer of every page, somewhere no one looks, so clearly our malicious ads are your fault'

Also, turning off JavaScript is the only way to navigate this site on mobile.
