Be warned this may be lengthy, so leave now if you don't like long posts.

Before I left for my trip, I was overjoyed that a local mexican restaurant named El Sarape, had started to have a lunch buffet.

It was quite good, with a nice selection of meats for tacos, excellent refried beens, and tons of condoments to put on top (tomatoes etc) along with sauces.

It was delicious and just $14!

I went two or three times before I left and each meal was great. I was really looking forward to going again when I came back.

I did that yesterday and it's amazing what 2 weeks can do.

Word got out I guess, as in the first few days there was maybe 4-5 people eating at the same time as me.

Yesterday there was probably over 30, and a line to actually use the buffet.

That would be bad enough, but, since the food was being eaten so fast, they had to rush it, and it went from delicious, to barely edible. The beans where clumpy and tasteless (dry in your mouth type...hard to swallow). The meats where cooked quickly and not juicy at all, and the tortilla's which were hand made before and delicious, where undercooked and not nearly as good.

Went from a 8-9 in taste (Which is amazing for a buffet), to a 2 or 3 (which isn't even on my radar for places to eat even if it's free.

So many people will jump on anything that is good now, that it makes it quickly impossible for the quality to stay the same. The only solution I can think of is moving to somewhere with less people so a good deal/lunch isn't suddenly flooded by the masses until it becomes just another place for people with no taste buds.

I probably should be eating a bit more healthy anyway, so it's not really a bad thing, but it is sad.

There is a GREAT INSANELY GOOD SO AWESOME...buffer here in olympia WA.

If you ever travel here you have to try it.

It is called budd bay cafe. Here is a link to some of what is available on the sunday brunch buffet.

http://www.buddbaycafe.com/menus/sunday-brunch/

It does cost $35, but the roast beef is insanely good. Best sausages I have ever had as well. Unlimited freshly squeezed OJ among other drinks etc.

Seriously one of the best buffets I have had in my life....worth a trip to Olympia just for that tbh.

Only found out about it recently, can't believe I lived here so long and didn't know, but it's a closely guarded secret...the lines are already very long.

Some things are worth the cost.

A good meal can be had generally for about $15-20. Yes you can eat for less, but in general that is how much a high quality meal somewhere will cost.

The sunday brunch Buffet is like having 2 meals together, breakfast and lunch...and costs about the same.

The difference is, I have honestly not had a prime rib meal anywhere in the area as good, and you can get as much as you want.

The sausages are also about 3 tiers above any breakfast place in the area. I don't even get them anywhere else, but these where seriously good.

They also had freshly made (to order) waffles, and not just with pancake batter (I'm a bit of an expert on waffles, and these were quite good).

$35 is alot, but....honestly it's an insanely good deal even if you eat as little as me now. If I had been in my 20s, I probably would have put them out of buisiness lol (good thing I wasn't here then!!).

Now, even skipping breakfast and eating at around noon or so, and possibly skipping dinner the night before, I still can maybe eat 2 pieces of the roast, 4 or 5 sausages (they are not the tiny links but not huge either), some roasted potatoes and maybe a waffle or something.

Seems like alot of money for just that much food, but it was so good it was totally worth it. The roast alone was worth it honestly.
