So yeah, I went to NY and visited a ton of relatives.

Most of them have movie pass (We saw a movie together.....Something Lucy....it was depressing).

Anyway....I looked it up when I got back and it says it's 6.95 a month for unlimited movies.

I know it works as they all used it.

But it says it takes up to 2 weeks to get your card.

I rarely see more then one movie a month, and usually go on tuesdays which is only $5.

Not really sure if the pass is meant for me tbh.

So what is your opinion on it, if you have it?

I love it so far

For whatever reason mine only took 8-9 days to come in the mail. I was nervous because so many people online talked about issues but from my experience they have ironed out the kinks at least for now.

Ive seen 7 movies in March alone and havent run into a single issue. I check into a movie on the app when Im at the theater and then use the card to pay. Its actually encouraging me to see movies that arent necessarily what I would pay to see normally and some of those films I am really enjoying.

I can't imagine this is a tenable financial situation for them.

It has the potential to be. For every person who sees ten movies a month and buys no concessions and clearly comes out on top, there are going to be a whole lot more who don't see enough movies to justify the cost, or buy enough concessions each time to more than make up the difference. That's how a lot of these subscription-based things work.

But if you pay $7 a month and see 7 movies, you only paid $7 for what $65-75 in movie tickets. Multiply that buy 12 months and it isn't possible for the movie pass to be financially feasible. The movie passes aren't sold by the movie theater. AMC has expressed concern regarding that movie passes.

It only works if people buy it, since you have to pay for 12 months at a time, and not use it, like a gym membership.

Exactly. I'm not saying it isn't a good deal, because it is -- just not for the company.

Exactly. There are going to be people who buy it and go to 7 movies a month, but there are also many, many people who will buy it and then only see 3-4 movies a year, in which case they end up spending $84 for $30-40 worth of movie tickets.

There's also the value of simply getting people into the theatre. Concession sales offer a HUGE profit margin. Getting people to go to the theatre when they otherwise wouldn't have creates the potential for more concession sales. Even for those who avoid concessions because of how expensive they are, somebody that's going to the theatre a couple times a week is potentially going to be more inclined to buy some simply for the sake of supporting the theatre (since, at that point, you're going to start to get to know some of the staff and become more personally attached to the place).

It's not a guaranteed profit, no, and it does sound like such a good deal that I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't sustainable, but you have to look at more than just the participants that come out on top if you're going to assess that.

It will never be viable at $6.95. Theyre selling your information.

Meh, unlimited movies is worth it \_()_/

Just went to sign up and saw you have to pay for a year.

Not gonna happen. It's one thing to pay by month if I plan on seeing a movie a month. It's another thing to shell out almost $100 now on the chance I'll watch 20 movies in the next year to break even.

For me it costs as follows to see a movie.

$5 on Tuesdays if I don't mind waiting a few days before watching a movie.

$8 any other day since I watch them before 4pm.

I rarely pay $8, it's gotta be an amazing movie (GoG2 for instance) that I can't wait to watch.

I can't remember the last time I watched more then 2 movies in a month at the theater, and I can certainly remember many months I watched none. I prefer watching at home even with century theaters more comfy seats.

So it's a movie pass for me (heh...as in I pass).

Unless they changed it I don't think that's right.
It's 7 bucks a month if you pay for a year.
It's 10ish if you do it month to month. Which for me is still cheaper than ONE movie.

Hmm, it didn't give me the option for month to month, I would be down with trying it for $10.

It's a good excuse to hang out with friends after work without having to argue about where to go or what to see.
We just see whatever is playing and use movie points for popcorns.

Used to have it and it didn't work for me so I tried to cancel and their customer service is beyond the worst I've ever experienced and it literally took like 4 months and multiple complaints to the BBB in order for them to cancel it for me.
