Holocaust deniers are pretty much on par with evolution deniers... they see a record of millions of dead and say God has a plan.

Pretty much a foregone conclusion that a Democrat will win there to begin with, so kinda hard to find a Republican that is willing to run

Mr. Jones, 70, unsuccessfully sought the nomination five times before, and his victory on Tuesday was a foregone conclusion after the Republican Party failed to draft another candidate to enter the race against him.

The Third Congressional District of Illinois has not been represented by a Republican since 1975, and few people, besides Mr. Jones, believe he has a chance of winning the general election in November. Daniel Lipinski, a Democrat, has represented the district in Congress since 2005, and before that it was represented by his father, Bill Lipinski, since 1993.

So in other words the party didn't put any resources into the race they knew they couldn't win and got the only person who was stupid enough to think he had a chance?

No they aren't, Holocaust deniers are far worse. Being a creationist doesn't lead to violence.

I can see someone running in a place that has no chance to win because, hey, that would be a fun thing to tell people at least.

And spend resources that they could have used elsewhere?
There was a basically 0% chance that a Republican was going to win, so why would they bother when there's other places that money could have gone.

The political parties are private institutions, not public. Can't they just refuse to let someone run if they don't want such a person representing their party?
Obviously can't break equal opportunity laws, but this wouldn't be a discrimination case.
And while the nazi might whine about it, I'm pretty sure the overwhelming majority of people will understand excluding him.

Especially considering that he couldn't even win the nomination the last five times he tried and no republican has won in that district since 1975.

Because it's *totally* the same...?

Probably a lot of effort involved or something. There *might* be laws regulating the process.

So stories like this don't come up and they could avoid the negative pr.

Do people not understand how Chicago politics work? The Nazi won by default because nobody, including the Republican party, cares about competing for these offices. The Republican candidate could be literally Jesus resurrected, and a Democrat is still going to win that election.

Or Abraham Lincoln, who would likely poll better than Jesus in Chicago. Likewise, the Democrat could be zombie Hitler and still win.

There is a few people that could win as a Republican, like if you get a championship in Chicago, Jordan as a Republican would win for example
