There seems to be a pretty big divide over the game. I personally thought it was one of the most fun games I have played. The multiplayer was alright but I enjoyed the story. Wish it was backwards compatible with the consoles now.

Great game that was difficult af because enemies were bullet sponges and there weren't enough health items

Bullet time was almost completely useless for anything but cover firing too

Also not a fan of how they claimed the comic cutscenes would come back but instead they just popped out the dialogue every few words

Still liked it a lot, would replay if it was BC again

It was mechanically good but it was bland as fuck after the first playthrough

Like was it suppose to be a parody of Man on Fire movie or just a try hard attempt to be a Hollywood movie?

Gameplay was good though

Phenomenal. Tried to replay it recently and was really turned off by how the game is interrupted by a cutscene every 2 minutes. My patience for that sort of thing has gone way down.

It's worth it, may be a pain to get working with GFWL (I don't know if they ever removed it, though it's a new enough game that it shouldn't be too big of an issue). Just don't expect it to be the same as the first game at all. It ... actually feels like an entirely different series imo.

Very well made game, was let down by the story though especially after the masterpiece of max Payne 2. I liked them making him a broken alcoholic but the story wasnt personal enough imo. His motivation made far more sense in the first 2 since everything revolves around his life whereas in 3 its...not

Playing it now on PC. It is a masterpiece, best 3rd person shooter ever made.

Also the writing was amazing, loved Max's old man struggles after the first two games.

good gameplay, meh everything else. unfortunately that everything else was half of the game.

I think that 2 has the best story, and that 3 comes after it.

the only one that I don't like is 1.

I played it a couple years after all the hype and wasn't really feeling it, I don't think I finished it. The story wasn't engaging me personally, and I felt the noir style was better in the original games. The gun mechanics were good but I didn't really use bullet time the way I did in the originals, I pretty much had to be like "oh yeah I have that, I should use it" and I'd use it for the hell of it but not because I felt like I was in a combat situation where I needed it.

I think I fell victim to overhype. The people I knew at least constantly praised it for years before I played it and would be like "you've GOT to play Max Payne 3"
But I will applaud it for being a relatively, at least compared to GTA and stuff niche title that I never would've expected them to do another one of and with the way Rockstar is going that'll likely be the last outside of the box thing they do, they're just going to focus on cash cows like GTA Online from now on. Can't blame them as as a business. I'd imagine they've probably released a few new cars in GTA Online that generated as much shark card revenue for it as Max Payne 3 as a whole made them for next to no cost or time for them compared to making an entire new game.
