i think the vast majority of viewers for well, anything really don't really sit there stewing about crap writing or development. they just want to see cool or familiar shit.

Idk, not really... Smash Bros. overall only exists as a crossover, with mostly no story of its own. It's created by one company and stars mostly only the IPs of that company to celebrate itself as pure fanservice. It doesn't exist outside of the franchises it crosses over.

RP1 is entirely its own piece of fiction.

The most hilarious one is Battleborn. Barely anyone gives a shit about that game now. Who would be playing as these characters decades from now.

I don't think these cameos would really take up any time. Most of it seems like stuff in the background or during action scenes.

Not saying this movie will be good but I get why people like it. For most of these characters this will be their only time actually seen and rendered in a high budget movie.

The story seems garbage. I also felt this way with Wreck It Ralph, but I ended up never watching it, despite owning it. Maybe I should watch it right now.

I'm saying Fox/Disney money will keep him alive for years. They're not gonna get rid of his Cyclops, especially since I doubt they want to make the same exact mistake like with X3.

And if those movies make money, he'll still get work outside them.

The premise is that the guy who created the OASIS virtual reality was basically a complete recluse who grew up in the 80's. He was obsessed with 80's video games and pop culture. He hid a bunch of easter eggs in the OASIS, and when he died his will stated that whoever could find the all of the easter eggs and complete the challenge would inherit everything he owned, including the OASIS itself.

So, being that the world's largest fortune was up for grabs, the entire world became obsessed with 80's pop culture in order to decipher and find the easter eggs. The book/movie tells the story of the hunt for them.
