TP has the best dungeons in the series by a wide margin.

Nah. BotW's dungeons are the best, there just aren't many of them. Hyrule Castle alone is the best dungeon in any Zelda game.

terrible opinion

BotW is an amazing game but its not because of the dungeons. While the central control thing is an interesting mechanic, the dungeons themselves were just a couple of different puzzles placed in the same general area. The dungeons had no sense of progression at all since all the terminals were just separate objectives, no interesting enemies, and they were way too short.

Hyrule castle was a lot of fun to explore but again, there's no dungeon aspect to it. You could literally skip the entire thing with little to no effort.

Twilight Princess is definitely not an awful game, but yeah it was pretty underwhelming. I played it for the first time last year, it was my first LoZ game and I was wondering what all the fuss was about for this series. Great game but pretty flawed. The overworld is vast but mostly lifeless, the graphics and sound are lackluster even for a GameCube game, not many side quests and the ones it does have are tedious, nothing to spend all your Rupees on, a couple dungeons pretty much suck, almost no difficulty throughout, I could go on. The introduction wasn't as bad as people are saying but it did go on a little long.

I'm currently playing through Skyward Sword, almost at the end, but this game seems like a real chore to finish. I'm really not a fan of it...

This is like playing the Final fantasy series for the first time and starting with FF2 and FF13.

Why didn't you start with any of the much better ones?

I didnt know TP was one of the weaker ones, I always thought it was one of the better-received entries of the series. Maybe after Im done Skyward Sword Ill go back and play A Link to the Past, and go from there.

The reason why I started with these is I never really got into Nintendo consoles growing up, so I never really had the opportunity to play them. Someone gave me their Wii and a bunch of games, so now Im playing those. I have an N64, but OoT and MM carts are expensive...

If that Hyrule Castle was put into TP with a proper dungeon progression it would've been amazing. BotW's was the most believable version of Hyrule Castle that I've seen.

I always thought the same thing. The game felt like some weird Zelda rip off. The animations, music and overall gameplay were just weird and off-putting to me.

Easily the worst Zelda game ever created.

Nah. Even if you don't count the Divine Beasts for some stupid reason there's still there Yiga hideout which should count.

wrong

BoTW is the best thing that happened to Zelda since OoT

It brought back the sense of exploration and adventure of the original game on NES.

If you don't like BotW, you are not a human.

It's by far the worst 3D Zelda

I agree with this, only SS is possibly worse.

TP is terrible simply because you could tell it was designed for people who never played a Zelda game in their lives.

It's so easy it's a tedious bore. Took me two years to beat it because I could only play it for about an hour at a time.

BotW is just slightly above TP but is still pretty dull.

Why do people want the same shit over and over again in a franchise? BotW is easistly the best thing to happen to Zelda since OoT. And will hold up and stand the test of time far more than OoT ever had a chance of doing.

No. Good 3D dungeons have some sort of progression to them where you slowly unlock more and more of the dungeon, as well as their entire structure which is a navigation puzzle in itself. You have to figure out where to go as well as solve the small puzzles along the way.

BotW dungeons have zero structure, you can do any small part of it in any order and then you're done. You unlock the entire dungeon the moment you walk in and activate the stone thing.

lol wtf are you talking about, it's been 20 years and OoT is still consistently seen as one of the greatest games ever made and set the standard for 3D zeldas for years to come.

I agree BotW did a lot of things right and I'm really glad with the direction they went in though.

Your original comment didn't say anything about dungeon progression. The fact of the matter is every 3D zelda dungeon is "solve some puzzles to unlock a room, then solve more puzzles in there"

The only difference when it comes to BotW is that you choose which room you go to for the puzzles in any order.

Which makes a huge difference. In a traditional 3D zelda dungeon you have to solve the entire dungeon and not just the sum of its parts. Take the water temple in OoT. You have to take into account where you can a can't go based on your current position, your keys, your items, and the water level. It's much more complex than solving 5 different puzzles in any order because the dungeon itself is a huge overarching puzzle. THings you do in certain rooms will effect other rooms and so on.

I don't understand why people have a problem with the water temple. I had no issue with it other than being annoyed of all the back and forth I had to do. The forest temple in OoT was much more difficult for me, because if I didn't look it up, I would have never guessed that the silver key I needed was hidden outside, on top of the temple because you had to climb an vine that I thought was just scenery.

Water temple sucked hard in OoT because of the way the iron boots worked which made it super frustrating to navigate.

It's the same as those haters that try and pretend RE4 was a bad game because it didn't have awful still camera angles and tank controls. Some people aren't able to adapt, so they hate when a franchise takes a new direction, even when it's clearly for the better and exceeds the previous installments.
