Are you triggered by this news?

61 y/o Scottish Director, Danny Boyle, the director most famous for Trainspotting and winning Best Picture for Slumdog Millionaire has said that James Bond's old sexist persona is going to get a makeover as he is working on the script for the 25th 007 movie that will be Daniel Craig's last outing as Bond.

This is also the new movie that will be released by MGM and Annapurna Pictures as Sony was Dropped from distributing the film and lost the rights as Bond will move to a modern day upgrade given the METoo Era.

Sony was credited for re-invigorating the Bond franchise after they partnered to produce and release the film starting with Casino Royale

He said "We're working on a script at the moent and we'll see what happens. But it's a great idea so hopefully it'll work"

They will write Bond as a CONTEMPORARY character with consideration to the Time's Up campaign about sexual harassment in the workplace.

He says "You write in real time, you acknowledge the legacy of the world of Bond but you also write in the modern world as well"

Danny says he has the mind of a female partner with a modern look rather than having "silly names and skimpy clothing"..

From this, we can expect less sexualized female partners for Bond and a more partnered version

Are you triggered by this?

They already ruined the character when they took away his cool gadgets. Might as well try new things at this point.

The Doctor would get very excited I'd imagine. Sewer workers not so much.

They took away the cool gadgets? I haven't seen a Bond movie in a while. And probably won't now. And while I don't really care that much, I feel like that won't be Bond. I like the silly, stupid names. And the gadgets. Sure, he was kind of a dick and pervert, but it's Bond. But whatever. I guess they can do whatever they want with it.

But did they really take the gadgets away? And why?

Casino royale gave us hope- false hope.

Granted that was a great movie. But outside of that and the original Sean Connery movies with a roger Moore exception here and there the whole bond series is a slew of 4-6/10.

Let's just move on and focus on a Luther movie or making the equalizer work or finding the next Arnold shwartzenegger.

Idk/ I always found the bond movies kind of sexist cause they never showed full on naked chicks having sex w each other uncut. I mean isn't that sexist to have tonhave bond always in the scene and not just have two hot girls going at it uncensored?

old sexist persona

Uh, what does the women's attire have to do with that? I can see changing his brazen overtures, but not the look.

...what? Among other stupidity, MGM is is FIFTY YEARS older than Sony Pictures. Hell, even the company that would later become Sony is like 20+ years younger than MGM.

Anyone who voted yes doesn't understand what "triggered" actually means. For that matter, Ducky, you don't even understand what it means. Hint: "triggered" and "angered" are not synonyms.

Frankly, the last James Bond movie that attempted to actually be a "James Bond movie" were the Pierce Brosnan films.

Casino Royal was kind of its own thing, and the rest of the Daniel Craig movies were desperately trying to be like Jason Bourne movies, except the Jason Bourne movies were better.

I've been a fan of James Bond since Sean Connery played the role. It has always been the gadgets, Bond escaping outta danger, and his charisma that intrigued me. What the female characters do or don't do doesn't concern me.

Yeah, but the Daniel Craig movies downplay or remove the gadgets (even writing them off as silly), and Bond's almost comically enormous charisma is why he lands tons of beautiful women, it's an extension of that part of his character.

The other aspect of Bond films that aren't present in the Daniel Craig movies is a villain with an over the top plan. The villain plots in the Daniel Craig movies are so boring.

I just figured he was using it as a synonym for annoyed -- because he constantly does shit like that -- and answered accordingly. Triggered in general is used as an exaggerated figure of the speech in the same way as "eviscerated" (which was something Jon Stewart poked fun at during a segment.)

I enjoy the Craig films, but he does go over the top on some of the stunts, though.

I was never big on the Connery films. Moore and Brosnan were more my preference.

A friend of mine who reads the Bond books told me Casino Royale's Bond is how he's supposed to act like.

Never read the books myself, so can't comment on how true it is though.
