No. I am saying you are jumping into an argument with Santa. I am saying what we are referring to.

I know you didn't say it. It just sounded like you were chiming in support to his initial premise.

I will contribute once more to Strife's search for how to fix his weight issue

Yes, your body does need sugar and carbs to keep going. Just remember that you need GOOD sugars. Sugars from fruits and milk and stuff isn't bad. Of course, you don't want too much of it, but you need some. Added sugars, as seen in soda, juice, energy drinks, most drinks that are sold in bottles based on fruit, candy, cakes, and a bunch of other sweets and other things, are the sugars you need to avoid.

You don't even need as much sugar as you find in a soda to make it. That's how much sugar they add to those products. So keep in mind: don't chase sugar. If you eat healthy, you'll probably get your needed sugar, and then if you cut out all the extra sugar from all the crap you've been drinking/eating, then you'll definitely be closer to the right amount.

I'll have to remind myself not to shop at that convenience store across the street. Their best tea options were Lite Arnold Palmers (125 calories/20 ounces) or those Monster Tea Rehab things (10 calories/16 ounces but shit loads of caffeine). Even their Green Teas were sugar filled. Stupid Arizona brand. Taste good, but not worth it.

If I have to stop somewhere for convenience, I'll try a place near the train station next time. At least they have unsweet Pure Leaf brands. All told, I think I'm probably set to be ok either way. It's just a matter of not screwing up at the party tonight.

Hardest part of dieting is knowing what calories you are intaking.

Like I just ate chicken Alfredo. How many calories is that? Answer... Who the fuck knows. I estimated 1900 calories for it. But it could be more or less and I have no idea.

I mean I bought it I guess. But chicken regularly doesn't have calories posted. And of what she made i don't know what portions of said stuff I actually ate.

You don't really need carbs to live. Dad's been on a ketogenic diet for about a year now to deal with his diabetes, so that means a year at less than 20 net carbs a day. Damn near impossible to grab a quick bite like that though.

You will lose weight, but it won't be healthy. You can be a normal weight and also vulnerable to similar health issues caused by obesity.

Athletes call that "skinny-fat."

His argument was you could eat anything as long as it is healthy you will lose weight and you eat barely anything but if it is bad you will gain weight. He said calorie counting and being an effect was a hoax basically. That's entirely bs.

That wasn't my argument, although its more correct than what youre putting forward. You can eat extra calories and gain weight, and you can eat less and lose weight, but not reliably and with long lasting effect.

For instance eating a plate of pasta is going to make you create fat at a higher rate than just eating as much chicken and cream alfredo sauce as you can stomach (hint, not much since its going to fill you up a lot better than plain pasta)

People who eat well will eat less calories, but you're messing up cause and effect if you think that you can cut calories to make you eat well. Cutting calories will ultimately starve your body, and if you think you have bad self control now, wait until your body feels starvation.

On the flip side of the coin try this experiment: try to gain weight eating 3000 calories of meat a day. You'll see an opposite effect of what happens when people calorie count: temporary weight gain, then sudden loss of appetite and a quick return to your initial weight and diet.

I would caution you not to put much confidence in day to day weight changes. Your body weight will fluctuate naturally up and down from day to day regardless of what you eat or how much exercise you do.

If you're collecting weight data on a daily basis, I would advise having at least 20 data points before attempting to draw any conclusions. Once you have that much data you should be able to observe actual trends

I'm gonna try and ditch milk altogether. Too easy to chug, just like iced tea.

I'm going shopping later tomorrow. I heard earlier that eggs are a good alternative breakfast idea. Any other breakfast staples people like? Ditching milk means cereal, oatmeal, and smoothies (normal staples of mine) are out. On the plus side, I might actually start eating all that damn fruit stocked in my fridge that seems to go to waste.

and depending on your body, too many eggs can also work wrongly

and due to my work schedule I dont even eat til 11 AM (usually nuts and then a piece of fruit later)

The shopping went well. I've found some ideas to replace my breakfast.

- Egg Sandwiches (A bit expensive, but pasture raised tasted pretty good, along with some whole wheat bread)
- Greek Yogurt (zero sugar), banana, and mixed nuts "salad" (can't seem to describe it another way)

I've got some tuna/salmon just to make sure too many eggs don't end up a bad idea. I think it's just important to avoid liquids as much as possible. Tea and water moving forward.

So, no; Still have "some" sugar, dairy, and bread, but this has to be the closest I've ever gotten to clean living. Here's hoping things work out.

The danger isnt that a piece of bread or milk or yogurt is going to make you fat, its that its going to make you more hungry, so if you can eat a few carbs and sugars a day and not have those urges, you should drop to a fairly healthy weight fairly quickly

Weight loss is very simple, eat less calories or burn more calories. I usually do a weight loss kick once a year for 2 months (usually February - April although this year I'm extending a bit since I'm getting married at the end of April). I love food, and I have low will power, so 'fad' diets like going completely low-carb are useless to me.

How does it work? My peak walking around weight is about 190 lbs, but 2 months of eating less like an asshole gets me down to 170-175. I cut out soft drinks entirely 3 years ago since they are just empty calories. I eat smaller and healthier lunches (get a 6 inch turkey sub instead of a Baconator with fries). And I can still enjoy my dinner as much as when I'm not on a diet.

For whatever reason, people think that losing weight has to be a massive shift in habits, while I find making small adjustments over time is the easier approach. You don't get the drastic immediate results like you see on the Biggest Loser, but you feel way less like killing yourself at the end of it.

As stated earlier, this topic is a way for me to stay accountable, since recent attempts to do so on my own haven't been successful (weight diaries, lb a day challenges, etc), basically mental tricks. I don't find this topic stupid at all, and I hope this wasn't a reference to that. If it helps, it helps. I have lost weight before, so it's not as if I don't know about these diets and such. However, I appreciate any advice. Everyone stays fit their own way.

*The topic title and my general disposition/writing style probably aren't the smoothest and nicest ways to go about things either. I probably brought that on myself, cause I'm socially dumb.

Anyway, there's nothing like a super cold day to frustrate me. My apartment building isn't exerciser friendly, and a bulky treadmill would probably be no go. Let's hope I can go for a run tomorrow (40 or 45 above please. Winter sucks). It's easy to drop a pound or two of sweat that way. At least I worked my abs for half an hour... at least it wasn't a total waste. It would also be nice to start fitting into some dress clothes without struggling with some buttons. I originally bought them when 165. Only one pair really still works.
