Are you triggered by people who sit or kneel during the national anthem?

ABC has pulled a "racially-charged" episode of Black-ish citing "creative differences" with the creator Kenya Barris!!

The episode called "Please Baby Please was to air on Feb 27th and featured Dre, played by Anthony Anderson, telling his son a bedtime story about the right of athletes to KNEEL during the national anthem..and it was instead replaced by a re-run!!

Kenya said "Given our creative differences, neither ABC nor i were happy with the direction of the episode and mutually agreed not to air it. One of the things that was always made up black-ish so special is how it deftly examines delicate social issues in a way that simultiatemly entertains ane educates"

The show has dealt with sensitive political issues in the past such as the 2016 election, racial slurs and police brutality.

It's drawn strong ratings and critical praise for episodes addressing a broad range of political and social themes

Tracee Ellis Ross has been nominated multiple times for her portrayal as Dr Rainbow Johnson.

The National Anthem protests were started in 2016 by Former QB Colin Kaepernick and President Trump railed against athletes who knelt during the anthem and demanded they be FIRED and THROWN OFF the field for their "unpatriotic" behaviour..

This sparked a backlash as other athletes and people began kneeling in protest that saw ratings drop and a national outcry that drew a line between liberals and conservatives

Are you triggered when you see people sit or kneel during the national anthem?

Yeah, it's pretty hypocritical. They're not solving anything beyond continuing stupid rifts between races that we should all forget about. The 18th century called, it wants its "science" back... Racism is like Freddie Krueger... Pointing out differences and categorizing people just forces many to pick a side when they otherwise wouldn't.

Kind of like it's more respectful to start singing the Star Spangled Banner during a moment of silence, right?

streamofthesky posted...
Remember when BLM was blocking traffic and protesting in streets, and everyone was (rightfully) saying they shouldn't disrupt transit just to spread their message, they should find a way to protest that's not as intrusive? They did, and people bitched about that, too.
Just proves that what the right really meant when they said, "don't protest in streets" was "don't protest at all."
Stupid. I want protests during the anthem, not in streets.

And literally all they asked was for them not to stand in the road. Every other protest group seems to manage that, except the occasional Occupy Wall Street rally. More importantly, they're on the clock. If I was intentionally disruptive at my job on a regular basis, I'd be kicked to the curb.

No, that's a pretty crappy analogy, if you're making noise you're ruining the moment of silence. Try: kneeling during a moment of silence vs. lowering your head.
No big deal.

The people (including me) complaining about the street-blocking protests said they should find a less disruptive/reckless means of protesting. Cause....they do have a right to protest, you can't just deny people that right completely*. So...they found a less disruptive method to protest. Good for them, i'm all for it!
Literally wtf at your rationale!
"On the clock"? It's the anthem, whether they're kneeling or standing, they're spending the duration quietly doing nothing. Nor is it any athlete's "job" to stand for the anthem, and it's their First Amendment right not to. If an employer tried to force his employees to stand for the national anthem or else be fined or terminated, a court would ream that employer's ass.
And I'd really like to know how someone kneeling is "disruptive." Please, do tell!

*Although it's pretty clear now that those still complaining about it would like to deny that right

Except you're deliberately doing something else as a way of spiting the actual behavior in order to draw attention to a cause. (And, I might add, the cause itself is problematic -- many of the slogans are based on fictitious claims, such as "Hands up, don't shoot" when even Eric Holder debunked the Mike Brown narrative.)

Yes, on the clock. They're there to do a job which begins the minute they step foot in that stadium. As for the First Amendment, that's a protection against GOVERNMENT regulating the behavior, not an employer. But nice conflation.
