Board 8 > Canon Star Fox 64 paths

Come at me, canon nerds. What's the canonical path to take to defeating Andross in SF64? Do Bill Grey and Katt Monroe bail out Fox? Does Fox never use the Blue Marine? So much alternative timelines!

I have no idea if any of those events are referenced/affect the later games that no one cares about.

I think we can all agree that Venom 2 (with the fight against Andross' true form) is canon. But beyond that and Corneria, what areas did the Star Fox team fight through?

My theory is that the correct route is:

Corneria - Meteo - Fichina - Solar - Macbeth - Area 6 - Venom

The key here is Fichina. It's clear from the dialog on Venom 2 that there had to have been an earlier fight with Star Wolf, and Fichina is the only possible candidate (Bolse leads to the "easy" Venom). Of course, Fox and his team win, which sets them on the path to Solar instead of Sector X. The rest is self-explanatory.

There's also the possibility that they go through all 15 stages, making the whole seven area progression format non-canon.

The problem I had with Star Fox was how shitty the top left path was even though it's the "good" way or whatever.

Aquas, Zoness, and Sector Z were all a bunch of no fun.

Well, the "hard route" isn't ideal for the highest number of kills anyway, so I usually don't go that way.

So then it seems the two canon paths are either:

Bill: Corneria - Meteo - Katina - Solar - Macbeth - Area 6 - Venom

Katt: Corneria - Sector Y - Aquas - Zoness - Macbeth/Sector Z - Area 6 - Venom

Bill's route is better and I also liked him more 20 years ago. Am I missing anything?

I've always sucked at the game. I've never gotten the good ending.

That said, I haven't been able to use my N64 in like six years, so I haven't really been trying.

Man I ****ing hated going through Katina, Solar, Sector Z, Bolse, and Easy (HAH) Venom. Such a pain in the ass to get their medals especially in Hard Mode. At least Hard Venom is a much easier path to get the medal

Sector Z is the worst mission to medal because you absolutely have to destroy all the missiles yourself and you need all your crew alive to get the medal, so it's not like you can just knock them out of the mission to prevent them from blowing them up.

Did you need to get a medal in easy Venom? I thought when you got it in hard Venom it counted for both.

There was nothing in the first place to retcon. The game was just ambiguous about what "actually" happened since both playthroughs leave out a major character and yet proceed with the same events.

Yeah thats what I meant. Both Venoms shares medals, so its a good thing Hard Venom is easy to get a medal from.

My favorite path was Corneria -> Sector Y -> Katina -> Sector X -> Sector Z -> Area 6 -> Venom

But that path with Solar -> Macbeth in there looks good, too.

This is exactly my favorite, ^5. Hits all the best levels in the game IMO.
