Man we got them like September last year. We had four pest control treatments that was finally over in December. Now, this week, we found that we have them again. I'm losing my fucking mind.
Have you ever had to deal with them?

My grandma had them.
We burned:
Every mattress
Every blanket
Every pillow
The couch

Then had the house both fumigated and heat treated.

If your exterminator isn't going to fumigate your house, find a new exterminator. Just spraying pesticide isn't good enough, they'll keep coming back when it wears off.

Not to say dirty people can't get bed bugs, but that's a misconception. You could work in a hospital, sit in the same chair as someone who has them on their clothes, and bring the infestation back home.

Also this. Heat treatment is the only way to be fully sure you kill them. We had such a huge fight over this with a previous landlord that we just said fuck it and bought a house. Granted we had been saving for a house and were intending to buy at the end of our lease, but them refusing to properly deal with it was the last straw.

Well, the apartments have a contracted pest control company. So, they were the ones who did the four treatments.Like someone said in the topic earlier, they may not have killed them all. But now they want to do three more treatments (that'll be a total 7 treatments once they're finished), and I have to pay for every single fucking one with no god damn guarantee or warranty that they will be gone. We had to buy mattress covers for two beds and that was like $300. We have to board our cat every fucking time for $35 a pop. And each treatment from them cost about $115.
I'm thinking to myself, what if we get these three more treatments and they come back again? I can't afford to do this shit all year. Plus we have to move all the furniture and shit.
I don't know what I'm going to do if they come back after these treatments, which would be a total of 7.

I've found them in a couple of my hotel rooms. These aren't just crappy hotels either.

Protip: always pull the sheets off the bed and inspect the mattress when you first arrive in your room. Look for bedbugs or small blood spots from them. Tell the front desk if you find evidence. Not only will they move you to another room but generally give you a discount on your stay.

One place gave us full access to the little snack/wine bar area beside the front desk. I left the next morning with 5 bottles of wine in my duffle bag.

I got them last November from a hotel, I got bit like 200 times that night. They only bite my abs. It started out at home 2 weeks later with one bite every few days. Then in December I was getting 50 bites once a week.

Exterminator came over and couldn't find any traces of them. He sprayed some stuff that made the house smell awful for a week. It didn't kill a single bug and I immediately got bit again.

He came back and sprayed with something else, put traps on my bedposts, and double sided tape everywhere to see if we could get evidence.
January no bites
February no bites
March I've gotten 3 bites in the last 10 days

Still nothing in the traps and we can't find any evidence of them. I'm losing my mind.

I had them last summer. Bombed the house with fogger spray. Put down traps and powder all over the house and kept cans of spray on hand.

Combine that with a bug check every night and weekly sheet washing and heat treating and I've been bug free for 3 months.

It takes forever to get rid of them and a lot of work. I suggest pulling out all dressers and static objects in your rooms that you never move and look for nests. Their eggs look like grains of rice and they don't always hang out right on the bed. Also we found them hiding in the curtains for the window that touched the floors, we tossed the curtains and got some shorter ones and treated them with sprays and put powder down under them. The most important part is saying proactive and search for them.

You got ripped off then, anything short of heat treating your whole house doesn't work.

My old boss had a few rental properties and has a tenant who got bed bugs. As an experiment he put one in a plastic ziplock bag to see how long it would live for. 6 months. That thing stayed alive in that bag with little air and no food for 6 fucking months. Fuck bed bugs.

I've heard that floggers and bed bug bombs are extremely bad things to do, due to sometimes the bugs going even deeper into the house to avoid the poison, then coming back

I've read that eliminating mosquitoes could have disastrous effects on the ecosystem because of their importance in the food chain.

Bed bugs, however, I bet could be eliminated without any disastrous side effects. It's like they aren't even a part of the food chain. Nothing relies on them as a major food source, I'd bet.
