Would you rather vote on gun control or banning violent video games?

Trump is re-opening a seemingly settled video game debate as he will meet with top video game executives tomorrow on why their content is triggering violent behaviour and what can be done about it.

But with only one problem..2 decades of reserch repeatedly failed to uncover such link.

However he's moving forward with it as he calls the content of "vicious" level of video game and movie violence in the context of school safety shows he is eager to explore the issue.

Trump also alluded that his youngest son, 11 y/o Barron is subjected to violent content from video games and the internet as he said "The video games, the movies, the internet stuff is so violent, it's so incredible. I see it. I get to see things that you'd be amazed at. I have a young, very young son and i look at some of the things he's watching and playing and i say, how is that possible? And this is what kids are watching and playing?"

He's entertained a wide variety of options to prevent mass shootings from arming teachers to asking the entertainment industry to tone down or even BAN R rated video game violence..

It was suggested by Marsha Blackburn who floated the idea that violent imagery is detrimental to children with mental health isues as Trump also says "You rate movies for different things maybe you have to also rate them for terror, for what they're doing and what they're all about. It's hard to believe that, at least for a percentage of children, maybe it's a small percentage, that this doesn't have a negative impact on their thought process. These things are really violent"

Would you rather vote for? Gun Control or Banning Violent Video Games? let's see what people will vote

Just a reminder that if the mass shootings of the last 4 years combined occurred every single day, it would just barely match automobile accident deaths.

On the flip side: There are driving video games, those are the ones that should be banned!

Lol. Conservatives just authorized a spending bill that doesn't even come close to balancing, the wall not only is a massive tax expenditure but also requires eminent domain on an unprecedented scale, they oppose gay marriage and cannabis consumption, they favor militarized police, an obscene military, and Trump wants to restrict gun sales and now game sales.

I am by no means a democrat, because they're just as awful, but to say that republicans favor small government is a joke.

Conservatives in the US love big government, just in different ways than liberals, and talk out of their ass claiming otherwise.
Liberals want a "big government" that expands social services and safety net to more people / gives greater benefits at the expense of higher taxes.
Conservatives want a "big government" that invades the personal lives of every day people in matters like who they can marry, can they get an abortion, should life-saving medical breakthroughs with stem cells be halted b/c it makes Jesus cry, vastly expands/protects police and prosecutor immunity from "misconduct" (ie, outright breaking the law and violating the Constitutional rights of normal citizens), etc...

A sane person would note that the conservative version is far more intrusive into people's personal lives and thus a far more egregious example of "big government." Fortunately for the Republican party, any sensible conservatives fled or were chased out of the party years ago, so the logical fallacy and blatant hypocrisy of claiming to be pro-small government while trying to dictate what people do with their own bodies has never hindered their politicians' ability to get votes.

So, anyway...looks like the NRA has finished "convincing" Trump on how to handle gun violence.
It's certainly interesting how a lot of times, Trump will give his honest opinion of something as a semi-caring human being, only days later to have Republican politicians or right wing lobbyists to have multiple "talks" with him and he goes 180 on his initial comments.

He was horrified at the gun violence...then the NRA talked to him.
He thought the Republican plan to strip away healthcare was "cruel" (his term, which was right)...then the Republicans in Congress talked to him and he was fully in support of it.
Hell, just read today about his policy on elephants. He was going to allow poached body parts of them into the U.S., then saw how they're mutilated and called it a "horror show" and shelved that idea. But yet....just this week, the Interior Dept. quietly allowed for the ban to be lifted.

I don't think Trump is as horrifically evil as others think he is. Yes, he's super greedy, selfish, vain, idiotic, etc... But, unlike McConnell and Ryan, he still has some tiny shred of humanity that you get to see when he's confronted w/ reality and gives a snap opinion on the matter. But he doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't much seem to care, so all the far-right nuts he's surrounded himself with end up shaping all his policies.

Most of what you described has precisely dick-all to do with the size of government. And you have other things reversed, considering that there's been more intrusion into peoples' lives AFTER same-sex marriage than there was before it. After all, prior to the government telling people who they had to marry or provide services to, religious business owners weren't compelled to provide services against their conscience.

Zeus actually thinks having the government forbid individuals from marrying is less intrusive than requiring businesses to not discriminate.

A standing definition of marriage which only restricts legal status of a relationship is OBVIOUSLY less intrusive than forcing somebody to act against their will and religious convictions. If the argument was laws against any kind of homosexual relationship, you might have something resembling an actual argument.

The libertarian viewpoint is that individuals should be able to wed and love who they please, but it is entirely within a small business' right to do business with whom they please, yet once a business goes corporate it relinquishes that right.

Democrats and republicans are both authoritarians in their own ways. Libertarianism is consistent in the sense that no individual is forced to do anything.
