Barring some strange exception, like a lesbian couple becoming pregnant simultaneously, what are your thoughts on the tragedy that is "we're pregnant" claims when only one person is actually pregnant?

While the phrasing is weird in the most literal sense, *both* parents have claim to the child so it's fair in a more general sense.

It comes off as strange to me as only the woman is pregnant (most common scenario). But I do understand the emotional undertones; both parents have claim to the unborn child.

Personally, I wouldn't use this phrase as I find it weird but I won't really dislike a person (s) on the basis of what cutesy phrases or corny displays of affection they choose to say and do. It'll probably annoy me a bit but I won't ever voice this out to them verbally. It's got nothing to do with me in the end of the day.

Let me tell you, having your first kid is a pretty exciting thing, especially if youre still newly married.

Then they pop out and your world is turned upside down. Its simultaneously the best and worst decision youll ever make.

I recommend it.

Nah, thats dumb after theyre 2. There are a LOT of developmental milestones in the first 2 years. Crafting a proper human takes a hell of a lot of work.

Except in between 1-2 they meet milestones frequently. So 18 months is incredibly different from 14 months.

Makes sense if you know anything about child development.

Almost 2 doesn't differentiate between 20 months and 22 months, again where they are meeting milestones.

There's no difference. It's only the woman who actually has the baby.

For the record, both times my wife was with child, I don't believe I "we'd" myself into pregnancy. I'm just not sure where all the exasperation comes from. I mean do you all work in maternity wards or a maternity section at a department store where this is such a regular part of your life to draw ire?

Fixed just for Jen.

Weird, it's almost as if in the post I was including multiple people into my statement when I said "you all."

"All" doesn't generally refer to a singular person since you are so interested in exact word definitions.

Oh well. I hope that's a helpful explanation.

Yes, the workplace question which is directly preceded by the sentence with the word which set off this chain of responses.

Again, a bit of a primer here since you are very concerned with syntax and grammar. Traditionally, when sentences are in the same paragraph and follow one another, they are often about the same topic.

Hope this was helpful.

The first one is the ONLY unacceptable one of those four, as it is completely inaccurate. It's like saying "we had pizza for dinner" but only one of you actually ingested any (though it was at least available to both people and still less fucking stupid).

I guess I should've made the last poll option "I'm part of the problem" to make it more inclusive, given some responses.

LOL. Before the rise of the feminist movement, men never got custody. Women got the house, the kids, child support and alimony.
