The Pledge of Allegiance was largely a jingoistic cold war era indoctrination campaign (it's actual origin is older and wasn't nation-specific but the whole reciting it daily in school thing started during WWII) and certainly isn't legally binding or in any way overrides the Constitution. I'm not seeing the conflict there. It's a false premise upon which that argument rests.
