well, after nearly an hour, i managed to clear one level, the slime climb. almost got to a game over at the bramble blast, then decided to save for the night.

That makes me feel better about my efforts yesterday. The most notable impression I get is that it's long. And it makes me sad when I miss the K because I accidentally get into the "leave-this-area" barrel before the others. Really nice melody for sure though!

yeah. and i just made a big mistake.

beat the world 3 boss, then went back to world 1 to farm a few lives... but forgot to save. promptly game over'd on stage 1 of world 4. whoops!

alright! got through the sticky honey level and then the first mine cart level of the game. died a few times on the bird level (bramble scramble) and now i've saved.

one of the funky physics things about dkc2 is the lack of momentum. stop holding right/left during a jump and you fall straight down. there's also no sliding when you land.

i think you guys might have mixed up bramble blast for bramble scramble, which seems like by far the most frustrating level yet (bird)

i haven't gotten even to the first save point and i've died dozens of times

DK's movement has always felt super weird to me, but I could never put my finger on what it was exactly. This is definitely it.

KONG isn't tracked, no. I think it might be in the new games? Can't remember for sure, though. Secrets work a bit differently in those.

Nah, they don't track the KONG letters because there's nothing specially connected to it. It doesn't impact the percentage on your file.

I played a little DKC2 this afternoon because it seems to be the cool thing to do. I haven't played 2 in a very long time. It's definitely a much better game than 1 is, but I agree with SD's complaint about some of the hitboxes feeling weird on a few of the enemies. Not sure I have the drive to actually finish this, but I played through the first world and a half.

Haven't played DKC2 in awhile but I beat Trails in the Sky SC yesterday. Great game. Think I'd go Estelle > Joshua > Olivier > Kloe > Kevin > Tita > Zin > Agate > Scherazard

Zin is only above anyone because I really liked his kung fu rivalry and backstory with Walter. Agate might have been higher if I had chosen to accompany him for the first several chapters, but then going with Scherzard didn't really do any favors for her so I dunno.

Also finished the first Palace in Persona 5, which I thank Leon again for buying me! It's pretty neat so far.

oh hey I'm going to finish up my second playthrough of Trails SC later tonight before I tackle Trails the 3rd

but yeah Agate > Schera as your companion in SC for sure now that I've done both of them

at least as of SC anyway so we'll see if anything changes

after the grind that was the mudhole level - it's amazing being able to clear the rambi level so quickly. playing as the rhino is great.
