I'd say it depends on the restaurant. Don't take a kid to a fancy place and potentially fuck up someone's date or possible marriage proposal.

If its a childrens movie you go in expecting that kids are going to be a bit chatty. If its not a childrens movie, then just go speak to the movie theater employees. Theyll eject people that are disruptive.
