I downloaded it since all my friends were bugging me to play with them. I don't really care for it since I'm not really good at it. I wanted to know what other people thought.

I dislike both playing and watching it, but it seems to be blowing up on Twitch for some reason. I'm not interested in playing PUBG either, but find it much better to watch that Fortnite.

Have played it most everyday for months now. Hated it with a passion at first, but once you get over the hump and get your first Victory Royale it become so addicting.

Fun enough, but there wasn't anything to unlock, so it didn't feel like you were working towards anything. No sense of progression. Apparently they've added cosmetics now, but you need to pay for a premium pass or something to unlock most of it? I dunno.

I just wish they'd just make the co-op campaign free-to-play already, so I can play that with my friends instead, 'cause that seems way more fun.

I was kinda obsessed with it for a while. Moreso than I'd been with any game since like guitar hero and Rock band. It took me hundreds of games to get my first win and since then I've kinda lost a little interest. And I don't like how season 3 feels for some reason

It's fun with friends, but it took some time for me to really start liking it. I had the same feelings as JackMan did when it first came out. Once they added in progression for unlocks, it got better. Then they added the battle pass for season 2 and I started enjoying it a lot more.

It still pisses me off occasionally when bloom decides that I will NOT hit that guy, but we move on quick enough that it passes.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Save the World. Just wish I had people to play it with.

It's all my students talk about, and they try to spend all of class watching it on YouTube.

I played it once and thought it was more fun than PUBG, but Siege is where its at.

Well designed game, much better production value than PUBG.

The building thing is pretty cool... but I find it tedious and not something I enjoy doing, especially in the heat of combat. Takes definite skill but I just don't care to do it.

Fun cartoon aesthetic. But it makes textures feel too flat for me. Love the landscape and environments of PUBG where you can blend into the scenery or what have you.

The ballistic system is more straightforward I think but I loooove the feel how ballistics work in PUBG. Fortnite follows the cartoon aesthetic with how their bullets spray and travel whereas PUBG focused on a realistic feel and physic.

Games are quicker and more action packed than in PUBG. But I really enjoy the drawn out tension of a game in PUBG. Every match in PUBG feels like a story and Fort nite has this too, but I don't feel it as strongly.

Combat in Fortnite also tends to be closer range, with close range AR or shotgun fire based around building stuff. PUBG is usually a little more long range based with lots of long range AR fire or snipers. I think this is due to Fortnites ballistic system, less cover from terrain, most weapons hip firing in third person, and the building system all encouraging fighting someone closer. I love the long range possibilities of PUBG more tbh.

Fortnite is so much better supported though. It really gets close to that feel of "Blizzard polish " that I'm a huge advocate for. Blizzard always goes the extra mile to make sure their game feels good on top of making good game play. I rrally believe thats ehy Heathstone for example is so succeaful compared to other cars games. Even though Eternal of Shadow verse or whatever are really well designed, they just don't feel as good. Compared to PUBG's bug filled mess, Fortnite really shoots for that goal. I think that's why most people would say it's better than PUBG.

But ultimately, despite blatantly copy pasting the battle royale mode from PUBG/h1z1, Fortnite has A LOT of key design differences from PUBG. And those differences are basically all of the things that made me fall in love with PUBG. The core of nearly everything that makes PUBG great is not present in Fortnite.

While I play Fortnite for a bit of fun every now and then, I don't think it'll ever come close to being near as good as PUBG. So whIle Fortnite is pretty objectively a better made game than PUBG... in actual practice I find it to be a vastly inferior game to PUBG.

If other people love it though that's great for them.

You didn't really ask how this game compares to PUBG but how I view it is basically entirely through that lens as it's a basically a copy of PUBG to begin with adapted into the already existing Fortnite game.

I agree with Cly on basically all of that. I started with Fortnite because it was free, found the concept fun. Then my friends and I jumped into PUBG and... never went back.

If PUBG could just get their shit together with the bugs and lack of polish it'd be amazing. It feels bare bones right now and you can just tell what needs fixing and where the potential lies.

I tried it out last night and didnt enjoy it. I dont like how theres no respawn (Ive never played this type of game before) and I couldnt seem to get the other modes to work right either? I tried to do the 20 person team thing, but it only ever showed 4 other people on my team. I tried a regular squad match and you gotta keep an eye out on when your team members jump out of tbe bus if nobody is on mic so you dont get split up.

I feel like its really different from what they showed in trailers, but maybe that was all for the PvE thats currently locked behind a paywall. The game looks kinda nice, but I dont think this battle royale genre is gonna be for me

My favorite part of Battle Royale is the lack of respawn. I used to play a game called America's Army way back when, and it was just 6v6 with no respawn... really means you can't just turn your brain off to spray and pray. It rewards situational awareness and (sometimes) patience.

I never squad or duo with random people. Either solo or play with friends. And yeah Fortnite trailers are all PvE with the paywall, though that's coming down this year.

I mean i played for 1.5 hours or longer last night. In that time I got a grand total of 4 kills and spent all the rest of the time running around trying to even find anybody to shoot at. I made it all the way to top 10-20 a couple times simply because I couldnt find anybody else until the circle was really small. The worst feeling is probably opening a door, walking into a trap you cant see and instantly dying :(

lack of respawn is the reason I'm drawn to battle royale games. Knowing you killed a man and ended his game is a good feeling

I used to play Half-Life 1 multiplayer a lot with the mode where you only had 1 life too (which of course led to playing some counter-strike too)

Cross-platform between PC and consoles is gonna be stupid as hell.

Controllers vs mouse and keyboard is just dumb. I remember in the days of Shadowrun cross-platform play just getting absolutely decimated by PC players using sniper rifles.
