What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is usually around a week before the end of the month
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for every chosen game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a chosen game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month

Played through the intro case/guest/whatever of The Sexy Brutale. It doesn't appear that I will have as much freedom and flexibility as I was initially hoping would be the case, but I'm still digging it a lot.

Uh... Is Demon's crest really this short?

I beat the four stages and then beat Phalanx...
and I'm greeted with a (somewhat downer) The End sequence...?

I mean, it was fun, but...

it's like, there's got to be more to the game than this.

EDIT: Ok, found an alternate path in stage 2, clearly there's more for me to explore.

Ok, found the alternate path in stage 4, culminating in another General Alma fight, receiving another transformation... and unlocking two more stages.

I knew that seemed too short!

I inadvertently saved Trinity and Clay. I was kind of messing around getting a feel of the area by filling out the map and seeing what I could add to my inventory, but I guess that I ended up solving it in the process!

Third guest I'm pretty sure I failed to save. I'm guessing that's who I found hung from a bell rope. I'm going to see if I can figure out what these keys I found are to be used for before resetting the day.

So...

I have now gotten the second ending for Demon's Crest. Phalanx sealed himself in the Heaven Crest... closer to a true ending, but still, no... credits?

I have really enjoyed this game, and searching the levels and facing multiple bosses is quite cool. As there's probably yet another ending if I find all the talismans or whatnot... I guess I'll keep searching.

I have now also saved Tequila and Willow. It took me quite some time to figure out what to do with Willow. I want to say that I had to restart the day around five times. Tequila only took three days, but I must say that was quite a clever solution.

I know that there was some criticism for the game's puzzles being too short, but I think that lengthening them would be counter-productive. These first four guests (I guess technically five) have hit the sweet spot.

ArkOfTurus has beaten The Sexy Brutale

Enjoyable game, fantastic music, very stylish, and I'm glad I played it. Conceptually, though... It just made me wish there was a Ghost Trick 2 I could play instead. On its own merits it's certainly a great game, but I couldn't stop comparing it to Ghost Trick, and man I really liked Ghost Trick. I still enjoyed it, and I'm going to go back to find all the lore I missed, though.

Probably going to go on to Demon's Crest once I finish exploring Sexy Brutale. I'm going to leave a couple early nominations, though.

Thinking about nominating Into the Breach if I don't get to it this month. Anyone happen to know if it's a game that lends itself to replays? HLTB has it at 4 1/2 hours, so I guess it isn't like FTL in that regard.

Ok, I have successfully beaten true Phalanx (it took two ginseng potions). That's good enough to say...
Lolo has beaten Demon's crest.

I think I've read that there's a fourth ending (like, a superhard boss), and I'll probably try to finish it completely given how early it is in the month...

but yeah, this is probably the best SNES game I hadn't ever played before this.

Saved Greyson and Redd. I figured out early on what I needed to do to save them, but it took an extra two days or so to uncover the steps to that.

It took some time, but I finally got to the next set of guests, and based on what I heard them discussing, the journey to them could possibly be more involving than saving them. I guess I will find out tonight or tomorrow.

Well I certainly ate those words. It took me what seemed to be an hour to get Aurem and Thanos down. Each time I thought I had it figured out, something went wrong, and I had to restart the day. I think I had to go through six or seven days to do it correctly.

I was hoping this wouldn't happen, but I admit that when I was going through the basement segment, I had to consult a guide. No way was I going to figure out that I needed to keep watering the tree and restarting the day until...well I don't know what that accomplished to be honest.

After that, it was smooth sailing.

KCF has beaten The Sexy Brutale

The twist/ending was equal parts poignant and underwhelming. I'm never a huge fan of the it was all a dream/nightmare, but I think that the way it was presented in this game was a lot more interesting than my experiences with it in the past.

Shortly after beating it, I went ahead and collected all the invitations and cards, and saw the secret ending. I most definitely used a guide for all that. I had only collected one invitation, but 44 of the cards upon originally beating the game.

Only the normal ending, but eh, don't feel like going hunting for the two life extensions I missed. Really good game, which is pretty much what I expected. Don't know why it took me this long to get to it. A lot easier than I expected, though (although I guess I haven't fought the hardest version of the final boss, and the other final boss.)

I'm actually trying to decide whether I want to plunk the 5$ for the steam version of Batman Arkham City or spring for the 20$ remaster of the first two games for PS4.

I... guess I'll try the demo and see how it runs on my laptop?

I enjoyed this one a lot. I've also been playing Arkham City. Haven't played it since it came out, but I believe I'm getting near the end.
