While of course car dealerships are all kinda scummy, I took mine to it at the end of January to get some weird traction control/power steering issues that came up. It ended up being some faulty lines and it was covered under my warranty.

So before I go pick my car up the next day, I get a call saying 'hey we damaged your car, so we're gonna have it worked on....

I was pretty pissed, asked them to send me a few photos of it.

So after they send it to the body shop they have work done at, I get it back after about another week. I'm using a 2018 Fusion as a rental so I mean... not too bad I guess. I get a call about a day later from their survey team asking me how my visit was and if everything was taken care of. I was pretty pissed off that I somehow got on that list. I call him back as he left a VM and was explaining how I don't know how it went since the car is still being repaired after they smashed it. I get a call back an hour or so later where he apologizes to me for it.

Oh well. About a week later I get a call saying the car is ready for me to pick up. They don't have any paperwork of the actual work done, as they didn't expect I'd want it, they said the body shop will email it to me later as they don't have it on hand. Oh well. Car is pulled up.

So I stop over and I inspect the job they did and h.o.l.y. shit is it bad.

Something that this picture doesn't capture is that the paint isn't even remotely metallic/shiny like the rest of the car, and his this weird scaling in the paint. Like a real shitty rush job. I park the car, talk to my service adviser and he's like 'well you'll need to talk to the body shop'.

Great, now the dealership is all 'nah not my problem' now and this bumper looks like shit. So after I called another person out from the dealership to check over it, the guy instantly is like 'that paint doesn't match'. Good. Nice. Someone finally agrees with me. He does however deny that the fact that the paint has some weird scaling texturing inside of it might just be becasue the bumper is plastic. So I ask to see another 2014 Ford Fusion, dude is like 'nah don't know if we have one' and starts walking away.

I found one of the exact year and color as mine, and shocker the bumper and hood match up exactly in all ways. Of course it did but now I have literal proof right there in front of them.

So they call the body shop, have me drive down to it, the bodyshop tech comes out, takes a look at it for like 2 seconds and goes 'yeah we'll need to repaint this'.

WHY THE FUCK DID IT LEAVE YOUR GOD DAMN SHOP THEN.

Fucking assholes.

So I have to schedule for a few weeks out to get it repainted again. In the meantime I look around more and find out that the headlight where it attaches to the bumper is broken and wasn't repaired. This is 100% not something that was missed as the bumper literally attaches to it.

So three angry voicemails to multiple levels of their service, both my service adviser, that guy who tried to get info from me about my car, and the overall VM for the company about how I'm disgusted that they tried to hide this from me, I get a call saying they will fix that too now.

In the meantime if I was someone who didn't know any better or didn't actually check the work being done I'd have some shitty fucking rushed paint job that doesn't even match and a broken headlight fixture and they'd say 'all good'.

Fuck this dealership. The moment I get this all back and it's all good I'm fucking blasting them over any place I can leave a review.

I was going to say maybe the bumper is naturally a different color since Toyota did that for my car in the back for some reason. You discovered it definately is not, though, so they suck.

That dealership is awful, though. How did they screw up so badly and think they'd get away with it?

Keep at it. They will get it fixed. Throw up a bad review if you want to get service quicker. They'll ask you to take it down afterwards though. Happens more often than I should in this industry unfortunately.

Probably expected me to not check or care. They sure seemed to try to get away with whatever they wanted. My younger brother had a rather bad time with them before where an issue with his clutch they implied he just was 'driving it wrong' at first. Until they took it apart and figured out yeah it's just fucking broken. (2014 Ford Fiesta's gearboxes are manuals with some weird automatic shifter attached to it. So they break a lot apparently.)

Sorry it's a 2010 model.

EDIT: When I bought my car from the Ford Dealership they promised to re-paint an area that was scratched and never did. I complained and it got nowhere, and honestly, I just let them win. I didn't give a fuck anymore. Wasn't worth my aggravation, and at the time, my grandparents both passed away and it was the furthest thing on my mind.

i would be just as angry as him if a car dealership messed up this badly, i had a bad service with verizon years ago that i couldn't get my money back for a adapter for wireless internet when the service didn't work all i had to do was put a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. i would suggest doing this (the work should of been done right the 1st time).

Question--do you feel a sudden jerk from 2nd to 3rd gear? Almost like it's a delay in the shift and then catches on.

Reason being is I do and so do a lot online it appears. When I brought it to my dealership, they gave me a print out from Ford saying it is a known "characteristic" of the transmission and not indicative of any known issue.

Yep, I get something like that a lot too. Sometimes it's a real hard thunk, but mostly just a light thud. Mostly when going uphill.

Buying the car I've had no issues. Got a nice loan, 0% interest. Just don't go there for service, ever. Though honestly, don't give them any business if you can help it. =P

I'm support staff in a Ford dealer's service department, and our body shop is an absolute shitshow. Understaffed, overworked, and they get cars from all the dealerships under our brand rather than just Fords. It's so bad that we hate checking vehicles in that need body work because we'll inevitably get a bad survey, but the body shop management is separate so we don't have any pull over there when shit hits the fan. It's so bad that when my coworker's truck got rear ended, he made it a point to use someone else for the work.

I'm sorry for your troubles. Calling and raising hell is the right thing to do, since bad surveys will get the attention of management very quickly.

My boss had similar experiences at the dealership where he bought his car. Great sales experience, but the service department lost his business and he goes elsewhere.

Yep. The body shop they took it to was is poorly reviewed. If it comes back and the paint still isn't good I'm going to argue about having it taken to a trusted place.
