Much to my surprise, I didn't mind the customers so much. When they were around, the managers would leave me alone.

in general i dislike customers more than managers, you disagree?

Very much disagree. Bosses are assholes. I only really dealt with customers for an hour or two. My Walmart closes at midnight.

I will point out that I was never so physically fucked up from talking to a customer that I vomited after. Can't say the same about hauling the Jagermeister.

I can honestly say the opposite.

shit pay for a shit job and you're so tired by the time you get off you don't feel like doing anything with your shit life.

I made it all of two weeks at my only construction job

lol

What work did you actually do? Because it's really industry dependant to how hard you work on site.

Political campaigning is flat out the worst job ever. Seven days a week, 12-13 hour days, physically arduous work since you walk about 15 miles a day, and it may all be for absolutely nothing if the guy loses. I don't see how anyone would choose that over retail if they had the option.

For entry level jobs, fast food is generally worse than retail in my experience. The only time retail is worse imo is during the holiday season/Black Friday.

Some fast food joints I worked at in my younger years were constantly busy and hellish since they were highway exit restaurants...never again.

Yes, but not very well for the amount of time / effort that you put into it. If your 2 week / 1 month stipend was converted into an hourly rate then it wouldn't even be minimum wage.

It was definitely a job, it just didn't pay you with an hourly wage. It was a fixed two week wage since you worked a fixed amount of hours every two weeks.

I just say all of this to dissuade anyone from working on a political campaign lol. Goodness that was the worst job in my whole life.

Here's hoping I get a bank job where I'm a Risk Asset Valuation Specialist. It's basically just getting data on properties and valuating a price on them. But I have to go to the site sometimes and check out the building and do a few interview questions I think. Yeah I could work on my people skills, but I think it's a skill that I can train over time.

Hope the pay is way higher than my current job at $14/hr, that and living in an expensive city, I hope that job is kept up with the cost of living index.

You don't have to kiss up to managers, well, maybe it depends on the retail job. I've had two retail jobs, one at BIg Lots and the other at a motel, and I thought it was okay.

That isn't so, though. I was literally employed by the Republican Party to be a field organizer for a whole region of Virginia during the state's gubernatorial race. Anyways, all of this is beside the point and completely irrelevant.

Point is: Don't work as a political field organizer / campaign staffer. Literal nightmare.

always hated one uppers, but i tore off roofs in arizona all year round for quite a while. nothing like getting sweaty and sunburned from the 120 degree weather in summer, then coming home for a night of trying to sleep with fiberglass in your skin that doesnt come out in the shower. and that's on top of the sunburn and the inevitable cuts and scrapes.

its no wonder most roofers are drunks and drug addicts, roofing just sucks that much. but it isnt as bad as tearing roofs off.

Oh definitely. I see it everyday. To be at telemarketing or even as a sales assistant is a Godsend for most people here. If you're male and without skills, you're put to hard labour. And the living and employment conditions are just horrendous.

And if you're female, you are a maid or domestic helper. And I don't need to tell the implications of such jobs. :((((

Anybody who says that has never worked in a call center. Between high school and college, I worked a *lot* of low-end jobs and nothing was quite as unpleasant as being in a call center. Suddenly doing landscaping over the summer -- ie, manual labor in hot weather -- didn't seem as bad.

This so hard, tbh. I know union guys who bragged about being paid to stand around on some jobs.

tbh, I'm sure it pays a fuckload better. Plus if you do a great job, you might be rewarded with your own show. I hear that's how Dr. Phil got his start.
