Like, I just can't take this site's unbearable discussion-stifling, context-ignoring, archaic, stickler rules anymore. The kind of people who frequent this site are just not the kind of people who should be in charge of moderating people. They're all idealistic, have trouble understanding social situations, and want to enforce their own little slice of reality. That's a triple threat of the worst qualities you can have. When you only have these kinds of people to choose from, you should probably make your rules as lenient as possible, but that fact has been lost on the administration of this site for nearly 2 decades.

And really just the toxic culture of the site in general. Everyone here has been molded by years of sucking up to stickler rules to the point of embracing it as a core part of their personality. "You can't do this! You can't do that! You said this therefore you are X category forever! I'm tagging you!"

It's what happens when a bunch of guys with arrested development and absurd sheltered ideas (yet they are EXTREMELY sure of them for some reason) call one backwater site home.

Like do the mods not understand how fucking infuriating their system is? They disrupt their own boards way more than if they just fucking let things happen. Every other site gets along just fine that way. You don't NEED to police every action and have a complex moderation system prone to abuse. And why that's bullshit is because it treats the punished as "guilty if at all possible to be considered guilty" and doesn't work to correct the offender's behavior, but to appease the person who marked it, which is the exact opposite of how a board should operate.

It also disastrously mixes with the site's social ineptitude because too many people here can't take anything but one way. They assume the worst of intentions and can't think of it any other possible way, missing all contextual clues.

Or, here's a thought, nobody is ever truly offended and just marks stuff that's technically moddable because they're in a heated debate, so they deliberately pretend they took it the wrong way.
