So looking at Cirnopedia it appears the CEs all do something different? I thought it was just going to be an art thing?

I like how they have different rarities too. What a trap choice. I was so close to picking the Kojirou one (him being on the dragon slayer craft essence is hilarious) but it's a trap as a 3*.

Anyway looking at them My Teacher and I seems to have by far the most general use. Seems like a CE that a lot of Berserkers or Casters could enjoy quite a bit. Kiss Your Hand seems like it'd generally be outclassed by the single type +25%s, and Versus is too situational I think.

basically it's 3 5* CEs, 3 4* CEs, and 2 3* CEs.
they all vary in effect. of the 5*, Teacher and I is pretty clearly the best: 50% NP Boost + 300% star weight is better than 10% to all cards and usually better than the 3 turn Divine boost, though that can be situational. that said, do keep in mind that a 50% increase to NP can be found in a very common 3* craft essence so you are paying a lot for that 300% weight gain. the Divine boost is 80% damage + 40% resistance, so that could be good on a 4th-6th slot character so that when they show up, they wreck.

the 4* are all pretty decent. one pierces evasion and has extra damage, one has NP gain + star generation + minor regen, and the last boosts NP, crit, and charm. none of the increases are in any significant levels (12-15% respectively) but it's decent and, being 4* cards, won't cost as much AP as the 5* ones above.

on the 3* CEs, one of them is 1 attack evade + 5% HP increase + debuff rate increase by 3%. that has some value, technically it's a step up from another 3* CE that offers evasion. the other sucks (Prince of Slayer).

so long story short, 5* is specialized to divine or super expensive variant of a 3* card with star weight, 4* has the largest variance for usage, and 3* is generally inferior to either of those.

edit:
if it's not clear, star weight here means the chance of them getting the stars that were generated. it still is low on Berserkers but can be decent on some others like Scathach or Okita, who are fairly optimal for it. though the former may also work with the divine boost if you want an even better divine killer.

Think you're underrating it on Berserkers, particularly if they're used on a team that doesn't have Archers or Riders (or better, a team that's heavy on Casters). Like yeah you won't absorb ALL THE STARS like you will with others but you'll get a non 0 amount of them pretty reliably which will help damage. Berserkers also typically have issues with NP Gen so starting at 50 is better for them.

That being said I do think a Caster you want to crit a lot is where it shines.

Just pick Waver and Alexander (Teacher and I) if you can't decide as it's considered the best one to have.

Each of these CEs have a different effect as you can tell that some of them are 5*s, some are 4*s, and some are 3*s as you scroll down.

So you really shouldn't be picking based on characters anyways, unless you're like crazy about one of them.

we've got 1/2 AP cost for that right now so i've been steadily getting through it myself. also is an easy way to get some Neutral servants, if you're lacking that for some reason.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that if an event isn't going on I'm usually letting my stamina overflow if I'm caught up with the story.

I mean I definitely have things I could be spending it on. I probably have over 30 Saint Quartz on the board from completion bonuses of interludes and free quests that I've yet to do but I just can't bring myself to care.

I guess it's nice for them to still be there when I'm more bored.

I've been gathering exp cards with all the down time and I still have a ton of catching up to do on leveling servants. I was really lazy and left even my 5*s at level 80 for forever, and there's lot of lower starred servants I want to raise up for when content starts getting legit.

I have tons of interludes and free quests not done yet. I guess I'm just waiting for another 1/2 AP week to do them. But I still at least do the EXP stages to use up stamina.

Wouldn't worry too much about putting off free quests to avoid "wasting" the half off free quests if we get one cause I'm sure you'll be able to find one worth farming for mats if you really want to use it. I'm pretty much ignoring it as a factor.

Saved up my quartz while going through the story since I didn't really care for astolfo/amakusa. Did three 10 rolls and like 10 tickets, didn't end up with Dantes but did end up with a bunch of new CE and new servants in Fionn, Medusa, Anne Bonny, Babbage, Cu, kid Gilgamesh and Vlad (first and only 5 star). Still no saber a few weeks into the game rip.

I mostly pumped experience into Cu instead of Fionn since I heard he's a beast and that Fionn is pretty bad, which is unfortunate as one of my only 4*. I haven't put anything into Vlad yet but I'm guessing based on looking at him that he fills a different niche than Herc?

Wow, thats fair. Just lost 2 Servants in the stage today to the wave 2 enemy getting 2 crits. Too bad I have to use shitty fucking Dantes or this would be much easier....lost this stage thanks to the mid boss killing 2 of my Servants who just got their NPs and wouldnt have died if not for crits and then fucking Caster Gilles spammed NP loss so literally nobody could even get an NP off. Hard to use a good setup for the boss wave because if you bring type advantage to one or two youre also weak to one or two of them

I found this one to be the easiest stage so far

one MHX brave chain with NP took out the wave 2 enemy in one turn
