BAHAHAHASHAH just because it is first person with swords doesnt mean it id influenced by skyrim.

The influence comes more from the combat system of mount and blade while the other RPG mechanics are influeced by the great games of yore. Ultima underworld, fallout 1/2, even immersive sims like deus ex or thief in term of how you can solve a quest by multitudes of methods.

The armor system is not only for combat, but for reputation too.

Think the disguise system from new vegas where you can steal a legionnaire armor to enter caesar legion's territory without being attacked. It is like that, but more, more deeper.

For example, rings and amulets works in different way than any other RPGs. It works as a faction related accessories. Since there arecno magic and enchanting and stuff.

For example, if you do a quest for a certain noble, he will reward you his signet ring with hid crest. If you wear it in his land, the people will respect/scared of you and you can use it as a leverage if you get in trouble.

Of you wear it in his enemies' domain. Expect to get some insult or even get into a fight.

So basically the same system Skyrim has when you do quests for a Jarl

It is historical open world RPG with aim to realism and deep simulation and role playing elements and emphasis on player choice.

You can only play as a determined character, but you can play what you want.

It is like deus ex. You always play as jc denton but you can use stealth, go rambo, use persuasion, etc.

He is obviously proud of of his history and other than that he really seems passionate for the game.

I am aware of this critic and acknowledge it. Just hope the 20 gb day 1 patch actually does something.

Which is weird because ESO's gameplay clip looks pretty good, but he didnt goof around the tutorial town so i dunno.

Apparently in the official announcement, current build without d1 patch is 3 months old because on consoles they have to submit the game 3 months before release.

So there is hopefully a really solid chunk of 3 months worth of work in the d1p.

Seriously, the combat is a lot like For Honour, if you're into that sorta thing, good for you I guess, I prefer TW3 kind of action in my sword fighting and I just watched the trailer again and my face just twitched. It's also an indie game and I think it's their first time, so definitely wary.

It is not much about aimless freedom like in the sims or typical sandbox game, but more of an emergent of problem solving opportunity by non linear design.

It is really easier to explain to people who love deus ex or rpg like classic fallout/ultima

The quests in good RPGs are designed like a puzzle box where it can be solved multiple ways. So are immersive sim level like thief.

You are given some tools, you pick several out of many tools you are given, and it can be solvable with things you have if you used it cleverly and correctly.

That kind of freedom, the emergence of gameplay opportunity just by design and sometimes the discovery of what you actually can do, the improvisation of things when stuff goes wrong. That level of freedom if what i crave.

What i expect this gamecto fulfill and my expectation.

For rpg, the tools are the stats, equipments, and conversation systrm that allows you to tackle an objective in multiple way.

For level based immersive sim like thief/deus excor dishonored, the tools are sometimes literal tools, and the level design itself.

There is a charm where you come up with a plan, and a pleasant surprise when your crazy plan works because the game naturally allows you too.

And it doesnt count as breaking the game with bug exploit or something. It feels more you outsmart the developers for using tools they give in a way they do not expect. This again, emergence of gameplay, of problem solving even of storytellin that can only appear no other medium aside from videogame.

I have transcended clunk, and and oh boy so does the clunk rewards me with the best open world rpg ever.

Yes. You heard right. Gothic is still the BEST open world rpg ever made.

Nothing. NOTHING has surpassed such masterpiece, which the thoughtfulness of the developer permeates almost every aspect of the game. Few came close, but ultimately gothic is BEST

No little jankyness is gonna stop me from enjoying a good game. Actually i prefer shittily polished game with an ambition and heart rather than souless, polished AAA games with atomic level of accuracy in animation and motion capture, but dumbed down gameplay mechanics that really sometimes insulting to the player's intelligence.

One of the co-founders of the studio making it, Daniel Vavra, was the lead designer on Mafia and Mafia II I believe. So he's definitely got experience making video games.
