I remember first watching it in theaters and not really having a problem with it, but I watched it again today and it's really underwhelming. The funniest parts are all callbacks tbh, i.e. him being married to the princess and other stuff like that

I don't really think I can give it anything higher than a 5. The action was alright, but humor didn't really land, and I couldn't stand the direction they took any of the characters except for maybe Merlin.

I mean, don't avoid it altogether just because of the reviews (assuming you enjoyed the first one). It's not horrible, it's just got a crazy-high standard set by the first one.

Not to mention most of the casting was nothing more than glorified cameos.

Loved the first one, but this one is such a huge disappointment.
It have some great moments here and there, usualy the action scenes, but the script is unfocused, it relied too heavily on the first movie, a lot of characters are completely wasted, the villain isn't anywhere near the villain from the first movie, etc.
It's like they just completely missed the point with this one.

The moment a sequel was announced my biggest concern was how they were possibly going to top Valentine and Gazelle.
Looks like they couldn't...

Charlie was alright but he's the product of a huge plot holes from the first movie that basically directly leads to the events kicking off in this one.

It had good action, but the plot was dumb.

Also, it had blatant anti-drug message which was cringey.

The series started as "rate the HBO-Go" movie, but I watched Kingsman and figured I'd make a topic anyways because it's a topic about a series I like

I like how during the third act they do this huge exposition dump Whiskey's (Pedro Pascal) backstory about his wife getting murdered or whatever. Now he have this huge vendetta against drug abusers because they hurt people around them.
Like dude, you work for a brewery (A secret agent company with a brewrey gimmick but still).

I think it would have been better if he only became a Statesman so he can fuck them over from the inside.

I came in this topic to see more opinions about the movie because I've seen very mixed reactions to the movie when it came out and wanted to see what CE thought of it. I expected spoilers to be tagged appropriately since the topic title didn't announce there would be any (in which case I wouldn't have entered the topic), which is what the normal rules are regarding spoilers in general, at least that's what I thought they were. But instead, the wrong things were spoiler tagged and actual movie spoilers weren't lmao

But to be fair, the part that got spoiled for you is quite inconsequential; it happens early on and you'll have forgotten about it in the next 5 minutes.

Fair enough. And yeah, I kinda figured that was the case since she wasn't in much of the trailers or promotions for the movie when it came out, so it wouldn't have been a huge twist or something I didn't completely see coming.

I did like that the nutjob villain's plan would have failed because the president was a bigger asshole than she was. But I agree that the way they did it and especially the end with him being impeached was very on-the-nose.

I did like that the nutjob villain's plan would have failed because the president was a bigger asshole than she was. But I agree that the way they did it and especially the end with him being impeached was very on-the-nose.

To be fair, they did blow up Not-Obama's head in the first movie. It's kind of a running gag on whoever is in office here at this point.
