i wanna buy a new couch when we move but i don't want to spend an arm and a leg on one.

is ikea good for things like that? i like ikea for dressers and stuff like that but never bought a couch or anything

There's a few IKEA couches in the house here and they have held up better than couches from actual furniture stores. That tend to be really easy to clean too. Nothing wrong with an IKEA couch or bed. Just get the mid range and not the cheapest possible ones

Besides thrift stores? Those are great sometimes, but not exactly a reliable option.

Walmart and Target have some cheapish furniture but I'm not sure on the quality and they also don't have a huge selection. Big Lots also has cheap furniture but I don't know how good their stuff is either.

but i'm paying for everything up front to get into a different home. he can reimburse us. and if he doesn't i will sue him.

Yes and no not really. Some areas have more of them than others. They're common enough that there's always a chance. Many thrift stores here will no longer take in fabric covered furniture just in case.

I personally wouldn't risk it. Ask zikten how fun bed bugs are

Well, I think I only ever bought one couch from a thrift store, and I guess I lucked out on not getting bedbugs. Maybe I won't buy one again to be safe. Most of the time they don't have any good ones anyway so no huge loss

Value City is where I got my living room set when I needed to get one, it was pretty fairly priced. Not sure if they are just a regional chain through.

I have a futon from Ikea. The frame is super sturdy but the mattress/cushion thing fell apart pretty quickly. That was with a kitten tearing it up, though.

The frames sitting in my basement right now and I'm just waiting on getting a new cushion part

It's not that easy, the little fuckers are tiny and like to hide, and trying to kill them off with pesticides isn't always very effective because they lay lots of eggs that can end up hatching after the bug killer wears off. The cost of an exterminator to get rid of them properly on top of all the work you have to do washing everything and drying it on high heat to kill the eggs means it's not worth the risk
