Well, I played through the game without reading or understanding any of the lore in the game. I then loaded up VaatiVidya's explanation of the lore, and I'm still feeling like "What the fuck?". This is some Lovecraft-ian lore bullshit right here.

Yeah, I kind of still do want to play. My understanding is that there's a trophy for beating the game and getting each of the 3 endings. I'll try a different build this time, as I went through with a skill set last time. So, maybe strength this time.

yup. Trophy for each ending, u need to do chalice dungeons to get the plat as well

Chalice dungeons are far inferior content compared to the main game, and they don't scale with NG+ level so the first few would be somewhat trivial to you now. They do house many unique new enemies and many new bosses. Some of them...are pretty dumb though.

it's the only ps4 game I've platinumed. Normally I finish something and move on but bloodborne pulled me back and it was worth it

I have been building another character in Bloodborne for so long that my mind constantly flips in between "This is perfect.", and "Oh my God, this is fucking disgusting and I hate it." It's like that feeling where if you repeat a word often enough, it loses all semblance of meaning to you.

I'd say do the Chalice dungeons. No, they aren't part of the main game but the bosses are the most challenging and I'd honestly consider Queen Yarhnam to be the final boss.

The Chalice Dungeons themselves don't tell you much as far as the story goes, but all of them combined play into the main narrative. The short version is this: Each CD type is a civilization that also got involved with the elder gods and was destroyed in the process, much like how the church messing with their blood has resulted in the current monster crisis.

TC, you should play Nier Automata after this if you haven't already. It's another spectacular action game, but with a story that leaves nothing to "discover" because it just presents things as they are. Plus it's got a really cool new game plus mechanic where the story takes place over 3 playthroughs and each time the gameplay is different.

Favourite boss - base game: I don't really have a favourite. They're all fairly unspectacular. If I had to choose, it would be Vicar Amelia.

Hardest Boss - base game: Ebrietas

Yes. As I said, I played and beat it last year.

Hey, plenty of people got to the NG ending and said "I guess that's it." Plenty more started up NG+, saw it started from the beginning, and stopped there, too.

Heh. Blood-starved Beast is easy when applying speed run tactics to him. Beastblood pellet + serrated weapon + fire paper + pungent blood cocktail = dead in 20 seconds.

The Beast stat and the pellets still sort of allude me. Never quite figured out how that all works or what it does

Your beasthood stat is basically the max capacity for the beast blood pellet buff. When the buff is active, attacks you land fill up the capacity to varying amounts based on the attack (all attacks have their own distinct beasthood build-up value). The higher the capacity is filled, the more physical damage you do, and more damage you take (though the buff to your damage is dramatically more significant than the debuff to your damage taken). The meter drains over time, so it rewards repeated attacking.

It's one of the most overpowered buffs in a From Software Souls style game. Effective use of this can allow players to quickly dispatch even depth 5 FRC chalice bosses.

An easy way to make us of it is to use a saw cleaver or spear and toss in a lot of transformation attacks, as the saw cleaver/spear transform attacks have high build up values. You can also build it up very rapidly with the wheel's grindy multi-hit attacks in a transformed state, but you'll need a backup weapon as the wheel itself does not make good use of the beasthood buff (since the buff only applies to phys damage).

Note that there is actually a cut-off point where even if your max capacity can go higher, the damage caps out, leaving more capacity being just more leeway before you lose damage. You actually don't need super high beasthood to hit max damage, though more will make it easy to KEEP max damage for the remainder of the buff.
