Why is Logan only nominated for one thing, that movie was awesome! Wonder Woman isn't even on the list! I didn't like that movie but I at least thought it'd get something. Now, I'm not gonna pretend like I'm some sort of movie connoisseur, but this list seems awful. They're competing for best animated feature. That award always has a shit list, with one clear winner. It's easily Coco this year, so don't pay attention to that list. Also, the Oscars themselves are usually super snobby and always have an agenda for what they pick. This year, it seems like it's pro-women's rights. Also, they don't care about super hero movies. They never have. The only one the did care about was Dark Knight, which was deserved, but they only gave it the Supporting Oscar award and that's it. They snubbed Al Pacino for years, only to finally give it to him for Scent of a Woman (not a good movie, nor a good performance). They notoriously snubbed Martin Scorsese for decades before finally giving it to him for The Departed, which wasn't his best movie by a mile, and not even the best movie on the list that year!! They even made a big deal of it by having his good friends (Francis Coppola, Steven Spielberg, and George Lucan) give him the award on stage! They even said "you finally got one!" Fuck you, oscars. I just saw Boss Baby the other night and I went into it under the impression it was a bad film. Honestly, it was alright -- kinda heavyhanded on the whole overtones -- but it certainly didn't seen as good as recent Disney flicks like Moana ("Make way! Make way!") and Zootopia. I guess the fact that the whole story serves as a ~~framing narrative for a story a dad is telling his daughter to get her to be okay with her sister~~ might have won over critics. For the most part, it felt like there was a lot of squandered potential. Especially with the villain.
