chris griffin sucked. never had a good character. meg griffin was a little better but that's not saying much

stewie and brian was p good until stewie went gay and then the political / moral grand standing went on and their adventures got dumber and dumber later in the seasons.

Season 1 was good, but Seasons 2-3 are some of the greatest television ever. It's a shame that these aren't remembered anymore due to how bad the show got.

With that being sad, Seasons 4-6 were fine. They weren't as great as S2 or S3, but they were still funny. The S6 season finale is the sweetspot for the whole series though. After that, the series turns to complete crap as soon as S7 E1.

The first three seasons are infinitely more tolerable than everything after, yeah. But at the same time they didn't age nearly as well as early simpsons season post-1 when they were at their best

That's because Seth McFarlane quit the show after season 10. He shows up to do voicework but literally doesn't do anything else for the show.

However, Family guy is one of those things where I think the Flanderization of the characters actually improved it significantly. Early family guy is just not as good as later stuff, but the current stuff is just a bunch of recycled jokes. It's like I'm watching a family sitcom version of Tom and Jerry.

Brian is awful, by far the most boring and unlikeable character. The only good episodes of him is when quagmire is around to put him down and let him know what a boring and pretentious loser he is

Early family guy was boring as hell btw, it was basically a pg13 version of the og rated simpsons. The newer ones are far far funnier WHILE being less plot driven

People overhype the first three seasons. They're ok, but not great. The show got much better after it returned, with 4-6 being drastic improvements. Then it started declining again.

Yeah, but I've never seen one show dismantle a rival show as viciously and effectively. Every single time FG sets up a cutaway with 'this is worse than the time I [ ]ed with [ ],' I can't not think of South Park's deconstruction of the formula.

And honestly, I don't know if even prime FG holds up today; tried watching some of the classics the other day, and while they were still good to okay, they didn't fill me an ounce of the wonder and appreciation I felt watching them in college.

As a bit of a side note, I'd be curious to find out how many FG plots were direct ripoffs of the Simpsons. Two immediately spring to mind (child services takes child away due to a comical misundestanding; the horny family dog chases down and impregnates a female greyhound on the racetrack), so I have to assume there's more.

Then Adult Swim ran reruns and it gained a big following, Fox decided to revive it.

Similar thing happened with Futurama.

I don't know why some thing Brian is such a worthless character now. Some of the delivery of the responses to Stewies comments are fuckin hilarious. His and Stewies interactions are one of the saving graces of the shows much weaker seasons.

Also if anyone feels like trying to open their mind. Season 12 has so many funny bits in it. It also has jokes that are just hateful but if you focus on the good it is a pretty damn good season.

The Brian and Stevie time travel episodes are unbareable, no jokes just them traveling and running around with a long action set piece here and there

No, that's not the fucking joke. It was canceled. Very few people watched it in its original run. Adult Swim is what brought it to popularity among mainstream ass people and then Fox decided to bring it back. It's mindblowing that mainstream ass people like you don't even realize that it was canceled.

season 3 is IMO the best animated comedy season of all time. every episode is fantastic. seasons 1 and 2 were good, but 3 is on another level. Season 4 is also alright, and then everything after that is absolute shit.

Speakimg critically of media does not make someone an edgelord. Some things, most, even, start out strong or hit a stride early on, but that magic is rarely carried for a decade+ after. You can form opinions on things rather than blindly consuming like a sponge, you know.
