I make this a few times a year, but this one is a little late. These are short reviews of every game I beat last year, they were written quickly with little to no proof reading. I'll gladly go into more detail on any game, you just have to ask.

Please don't post until I'm done posting all the games, thanks!

Gravity Rush Remastered (First time playing on PS4)- When I played it on vita, I liked it but I wasnt blown away. The port job to PS4 was amazingly well done, and I liked it so much I got the Plat. The world and gameplay feel so much better on a TV, and performance was rock solid.

Root Letter(PS4)- Meh, I didnt get the best ending yet but the terrible translation killed it kinda.

Among the Sleep(PS4)- A creative idea I feel fell short a little. Its a decent game, but I didnt love it.

Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage(PS4)- Kingdom hearts just needs to end, but I guess it was cool to get a taste of KH3 gameplay. The ending was cool. I dont want to rate it but the movie attached to 2.8 was meh.

NIeR 1(PS3)- I really liked, the story was interesting and while the soundtrack was great it could have benefited from a few more songs. Gameplay feel generic, but the different perspectives kept it fresh and unique. Ive played Automata but I havent beaten it yet.

Gravity Rush 2- I cant tell if I like it more then the first, but technically its clearly more impressive. Regardless of which one I like more, it was still a fantastic game that I highly recommend. Play these two games.

Gravity Rush 2 Another Story: The Ark of Time Ravens Choice- Performance was awful, the final boss was a slide show. Minus that I enjoyed getting to play as Raven for real and her as a kid was AWWWWWWWWW.

FINAL FANTASY XV: EPISODE GLADIOLUS(PS4)- Was short but I enjoyed the gameplay differences to Noctis.

Horizon Zero Dawn- A nearly perfect game. Addicting, fast paced, amazing story, and a gorgeous game overall. Ive already preordered the DLC and I cant wait. It would have been my GOTY if it wasnt for something Later.

Blackwood Crossing(PS4)- You walk a little slow and it could have used some more instructions on what exactly you need to do. Great story though, and I almost cried honestly. Im not rating all of these but 8/10.

Guardians of the Galaxy a Telltale series Episode 1- Meh, and it doesnt sound like episode 2 is much better.

Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom(PS4)- Honestly, for the kind of game it is its better then you expect. It is very repetitive but what it repeats is fun.

What Remains of Edith Finch(PS4)- My favorite story/walking simulator this year. I actually did cry during a few key segments, and the comic book section was amazing.

Persona 5(PS4)- HOLY S***! This is my first Persona game and it was literally magical. It might have been the first game to crack my top 10 of all time in a long time. It a had a few things I wasnt crazy for, but they are so small its hard to complain about anything. Ive already bought Persona 3 and Im currently playing that. Also the soundtrack is literal god tier.

Dead Island-Definitive edition(PS4. Played Coop with 2 other people. Ive also played it on 360.)- A glitchy mess but a fun glitchy mess I guess. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone but I wouldnt call it a bad purchase either.

Dead Island: Ryder White DLC- (First time playing)- The story was actually pretty good, the gameplay is terrible. If you die all the ammo and resources you used up till death are still gone. Plus you cant find any ammo and health packs you found along the way again. That is just terrible game design.

Bioshock 2(First time on PS4 but first time playing since original launch)- Better then I remember! I actually think the gameplay is better then 1 but it falls a little short everywhere else compared to 1. Still, a great game and worthy sequel to 1.

Bioshock 2 Minervas den(First time Playing on any system)- I can see why everyone likes it and I honestly didnt see the twist coming. Thumbs up.

Battlefield 1 Multiplayer (Xbox one)- I beat the campaign last year, but I didnt play MP till this year. Im honestly not much of a MP kind of guy; I can take it or leave it. Its pretty cool if youre into that kinda thing then Im sure you will like this. Controlling a giant blimp is pretty fun too.

Ratchet and Clank(2016)- Ive never played a Ratchet game before, but I picked this up for $8 on a sale and I really liked it. It was beautiful to look at, fun to play, and was just an overall cool game. The final boss was shit though.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice(PS4)- I bought this game cause I loved Heavenly sword, and Im still salty that we never got a sequel. This game clearly wont be for everyone but It was certainly for me. The atmosphere, the story, the sound design, or that goddamn chilling performance by the Senua. Even the gameplay grew on me as it went on, and by the end I really liked it. Would recommend.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy(PS4)- Clearly doesnt meet the high of 4, but I had a lot of fun with this title. If youre an Uncharted fan, youve probably already played it but if for some reason you havent, do that! 2>4>LL>>1>Golden Abyss> 3

Life is Strange: BTS Episode 1 and 2 (PS4)- Im a HUGE fan of the first game, and boy the first episode did not disappoint. The ending to episode 1 is one of the most memorable moments in all of gaming. Episode 2 didnt quite hit that high, but was still very good as well. (All the voice actors changing still sucks though)

Persona 4 Golden(Vita)- After playing the masterpiece that was P5, I needed another hit of the good stuff. Ill admit, 4 took a little longer to get its hooks in me, but once it did those 108 hours of my life flew by. I do think P5 was a better game, but 4 is so close it hardly matters.

Splatoon 1 Single player(Wii U)- With Splatoon 2 coming out, I realized I never beat the SP for the first game so I decided to do a quick run of that. Games fun, clearly dont buy this for the SP but its a fun bonus. Much like Ratchet though, the final boss sucks.

Tacoma(Xbox one)- The game when I played it was incredibly glitchy, the goddamn A button to start the game wouldnt work at first. Also the framerate was godawful in certain areas. Ignoring that as much as I can, the actual core of the game was a fun. I cant talk about much without spoiling, but Ill say I enjoy this games twist almost as much as the first games. Maybe more.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto- WAAAAAAAY better than the first DLC episode. I really enjoyed the new gameplay twist, the atmosphere, and I love it even had sidequests. A little glitchy when I played it, but Im happy they improved so much since Gladdy.

Mario Odyssey-Ive only beaten the main game, not the darker sides of the moon or the true ending. However, the game is just amazing. It plays beautifully, I love how a moon is around every corner, the ending is fantastic and was overall enjoyable. This is from someone is far from Mario Fan #1 as well.

Life is Strange Before the Storm Episode 3(PS4)- Wasnt the ending I hoped for, but was still satisfying. Im a huge fan of the first game and I dont think this disappointed in any way, especially being from a different developer.

Horizon: The frozen wilds- A great addition to an already fantastic game, took me over 20 hours to get all the trophies. The difficulty spike was a nice touch, the story was interesting, and it had everything you love from the main game.

Hidden Agenda(Beatish)(PS4)- Played this with 3 friends and we didnt get the best ending. I love the concept though and I enjoyed what I played. Once all 3 of us are back together we will likely play this again.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony(PS4)- Im a huge fan of the series, I would rate 1 and 2 10s, and Ultra Despair Girls an 8.5. I would give this a 9 overall. Not as good as the first two games, and its far longer than it needs to be. However great writing, great characters, an amazing soundtrack, and an ending that will piss everyone off but I love it. Its an ending that could only work in a series like this and Im in love.

Wolfenstein: The New Order(PS4)- Never played a Wolfenstein game before and I got the duel pack with the prequel for $20. Played it, enjoyed. Not amazing by any means, story is a little all over the place but Im glad I played it.

Doom 2016(Switch)- Never played this on any system, and I loved the switch version. Great game, the fast paced action, decent soundtrack, a story that doesnt suck and it was beautiful to play. (Even on Switch) Much better than the New Order IMO, glad I finally played it. Tried to play MP twice and it crashed both times. Sooooooooo, peace!

Batman The Telltale Series Episodes 1-3(Switch)- Im enjoying it so far, its better than I expected. Still have two more episodes though.

(Honorable Mention):
PUBG(Xbox one)- Ive played liked 5 matches, most with a friend. I get it; I understand why everyone loves it. This arent my kind of games, but its pulling me back once a week for now.

Jackbox party pack 4(Switch)- Ive played all games in it at a party, and my favorite is the monster dating game. (LOL) I dont think its the best party pack, but its fun enough from a fan.

Top 10 of games released in 2017:
1. Persona 5
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
3. Danganronpa V3
4. Gravity Rush 2
5. Life is Strange: BTS
6. Mario Odyssey
7. Uncharted the Lost Legacy
8. Hellblade
9. What Remains of Edith Finch
10. Doom(2016)

I'm done now, its very possible I forgot something so I'll update that if it happens.

You should play Doom 4 on a high-end gaming PC with a 4K monitor. It's really something else.

Also, damn, you played a lot of games in 2017. I played Doom 4 (I will never call it anything different, fuck them), and like ... some StarCraft II with my wife when she was still here. That was it. lol

Need to play this too (have the first only though), also facing "shelve syndrome". What made the first one good? I tried it and while it wasn't bad, I also wasn't too engrossed in it either which made me feel like it wouldn't be worth the trek. It is a free plat though so maybe during a stormy weekend I can go through the first

The main character dying=game over stuff is garbage
The space ship level is pretty bad, and it has one of the worst songs in the game.
That is what I remember off the top of my head.

I'm interested in SMT, as you can see I also played 4. I own P3 on Vita/PSP i actually played it for like 20 hours and loved it, but after 2 games I was getting burned. I'll get back to it.

well the main PS2 ones: nocturne, personas, and DDS are easily found under 20 bucks
and the digital versions have some slight audio delay in cutscenes

but anyways yeah, I'd say try out Devil Survivor Overclocked or Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker (either is fine, no continuity)
unless you dont like SRPGS, then I would say give SMT IV a try

Do you have a gaming PC? I still say you should experience Doom on a 4K screen with ultra PC settings. Unless you really don't want to. It's pretty neat on the Switch, but it doesn't hold a candle to the full PC experience. You don't even need an extremely high end one, id Software is very skilled at engine optimization. (Even though all the legends like Carmack and Romero are gone now.)

I do have a gaming PC but it's very outdated and wouldn't play doom. I'm lucky to play late era 360/PS3 games. I've been meaning to make a new one but I PC game very little outside of Visual novels and Indie games. If I was going to play Doom on a nonswitch system it would likely be on PS4.

Of the games you've listed, here's what I own or have played:

Gravity Rush Remastered - Played it and loved it.

Gravity Rush 2 - Just bought this based on how much I like the first game, because I heard it was struggling sales-wise and they were going to shut down the servers. Shame, they should've marketed it better. If the first game hadn't been Vita-exclusive at the start, it may have found a bigger fan base and been stronger for it.

Among the Sleep - Same boat as you. Interesting concept, but the game is lacking.

NIeR 1 - Love this game. Automata is pretty good, too.

Horizon Zero Dawn + Horizon: The Frozen Wilds - Played and beat the main game, love it. Haven't played TFW yet but I own it.

Blackwood Crossing - Same sentiments as yours. Good game.

Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom - One of the bigger surprises of the past year. Don't usually enjoy musou games, but taking down titans never feels as repetitive as it is because the combat is so satisfying. Controls were handled very well, and I like that there's co-op.

What Remains of Edith Finch - Loved Unfinished Swan, so I was looking forward to this game for a while and it did not disappoint. Fantastic game.

Bioshock 2 - Own this but I've never played it.

Battlefield 1 - Liked the campaign a lot, and the multiplayer is a lot of fun, but I'm admittedly mediocre at FPS multiplayer.

Ratchet and Clank(2016) - Liked this game. This was pretty much a remake/reimagining of the first game, if you liked it enough you may want to check out some of the other games in the series. They're fun games.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice - Another fantastic game. Sound design alone is worth the price of admission imho.

Life is Strange: BTS - Played the first game and liked it a lot. Haven't played this one yet, but I bought it.

Mario Odyssey - Brilliant game.

Hidden Agenda - Pretty fun. I also have that "That's You!" game that is played with a smartphone for a controller. Not sure what the point of the smartphone is, seems like they could've designed the game to be played with a controller (maybe that's even an option, not sure). Still, I don't mind playing with the smartphone, just seems like it's unnecessary.

Wolfenstein: The New Order - Lot of fun. Super violent.

Doom 2016 - Ditto lol

Tacoma (Xbox one) - This is one of the games I wish I could play, but I don't have a PC or XB1.
