Been working pretty hard on career development recently and its become increasingly obvious that my hillbilly county is just total death in terms of getting me where I need to be. Its just a shitty manufacturing and industrial capital where low potential human beings accept their fate in society and slaves to the elite.

At the career center, flat out told theres very little in terms of professional opportunities and areas of focus are in aforementioned and nurse care and truck driving.

Ive already been heavily contemplating but Im almost certainly going to get the hell out of here ASAP.

Any tips on the process? Ive heard of people flying into interviews before having housing secured just to lock down a job which seems kinda heavy for me. Obviously theres a process with drivers licenses and that sort of thing.

Also not even sure where I want to move.

NY is endgame but way too expensive now.

Considering Bay Area, San Diego, Las Vegas, Chicago and maybe Atlanta if I can get over how much I hate southern culture as it really is the closest thing to a colored utopia in present USA.

A. Get into a car, hop on a Bike, saddle a Horse or buy a Bus/Plane/Boat Ticket...
B. Pack whatever belongings you wanna take with you...
C. Get a Map/GPS if you're doing the driving/riding yourself
D. Head toward the nearest state lines

I know that getting a liscense isn't too hard. That being said, I'm air force, so I could be wrong about civilians. But like for Texas, you need you unexpired liscense and proof of insurance. And you have to pay. Also, you can always live outside of NY, and commute everuday. People commute from like MD to NY everyday. And from all the states around. So, you wouldn't have to live there.

But seriously, this is pretty much everywhere...if you don't have the 'right' connections, you're pretty much gonna have to start at the bottom of the pile.

As for the cities you mentioned:

- The Bay Area: if you're talking about San Fran, forget it. If you think NYC housing is expensive, then SF is a totally upper level of ultra-pricey. If you don't have any kind of Tech/Coding skills, then forget it.

- Las Vegas: Not much better either...again, pretty much food service/casino and security jobs for entry level work.

-San Diegon Don't know much about this city; heard it was a beautiful place, but expensive as well.

- Chicago: I guess you don't hear about the violence there, huh?

- Atlanta: Not a bad choice, IMO...I dunno what you mean by 'colored' utopia (what is your race), but again, it's in the South, but not as bad as other 'Southern' cities, if you are really looking to get away from that.

- NYC: Big city (my current place) with alot of opportunities, but then again, you will probably have to start at the bottom in order to work your way up. And it's not that expensive (just Manhattan for the most part) as you can find some cheap spots in the outer burroughs.

You don't always have to fly out for job interviews. Calls and video conferences can be enough to get hired.

Maybe consider undergoing education or technical training at the place you're trying to move to.

This is the only reason Id move there.

Literally the only thing in San Fran is techies and Asians from what i understand. And Im actually kinda cool with that. Im completing a tech certification right now and would be willing to get a degree if I needed (Id prefer Stat though). And yes its more expensive than NY in property but in everything else I think its cheaper plus the pay is better.

Vegas Id work in the casinos and gamble probably. Cost of housing isnt too high from what ive heard from residents.

Ive been to San Diego twice, its nice, somewhat expensive, dont know much about the industry.

Chicago has shitty weather which is far more of a concern, Im not moving to any gang infested areas lol.

Atlanta is one of the cities Id feel comfortable in not being discriminated against because theres such a high amount of successful people of color there, it also has good weather. Literally the only downside is its in Da Souf

Most of Chicago isn't gang infested. You'd only end up in one of those neighborhoods if you couldn't afford to live anywhere else.

it's a valid question because what your field (whatever that is) pays in any given area doesn't really matter if you can't get a job.

Yeah thats what Im saying. Chicago is a gigantic area and extrapolating the issues it has with gang violence in the high density poverty areas to the entire huge city is silly and the equivalent of extrapolating Harlem circa 1980 to all of Manhattan.

Also Ive heard good things about the women in Chicago... screw that windy cold weather though.

As far as San Fran I probably wouldnt spend too much time in those LGBT areas.......but yeah, I mean thats a thing. And homeless people.

Those aren't terribly low numbers.

And its more about a climate where oldhead institutionalized racism struggles to exist.

Id also imagine a decent chunk of that 54 percent are actually multiracial or biracial but thats another story.

Go down south and start calling blacks, mixed race people "colored", see how well that flys. Even if you are black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American it is considered a racist, derogatory term probably because of the history connected to it.

The PoC term isn't looked well upon by us either because it is too close to the racist "No colored allowed" or "Colored only" that was used in the past. Mixed race or whatever you are is best. Don't use 1950's and on back in the past race descriptors.

My family is mixed or biracial or whatever they are, not "Colored". That has a bad connotation to it.

It was more due to awkward phrasing. I dont use colored too often unless im talking about the NAACP.
